Why not make a business card competition...

Be hard to make it anonymous, but I don't see that as a major problem... Sounds like fun

That part would be easy - everyone should make up a name and occupation - that could be half the fun (and humorous to boot - I can only imagine the entries :-) )

How about this

Using alot of suggestions here in this forum, I did these quickly to get an idea if I ever have the need for a biz card. Was fun to do in any case.

Much better, Travis! I'm not sure I like your name right under the photo like that but it is truly much, much better! :-)

How 'bout this one?

Is it your real phone number? I hope it's not ;)

Here's one I threw together quickly...

Is the font okay?
Oh yeah... is it bad to have an old camera here?

I view the business card as a piece of advertising as well as identification. What happens when someone has lost it but wants to get in touch with you? "Oh yeah that photographer with the pretty flower/bird/person on his card...what was his/her name again?" I think the most effective cards have a strong name printed in an eye catching way so a potential client remembers who you are not just your picture. Just my opinion.

To those of you who gave me kind feedback that I can use - thank you. As I mentioned my card is a work in progress.

I like it a lot, but as you point out, the camera does not look professional, and that could be a small ding; and 2)how well will that font color show up in your printed version.

Also, and I don't know the answer to this, but if I found that card and was thinking of hiring you, wouldn't it be good to know what town you work out of (travel wise)?

Now you have to fix your website Travis. :)

UGGG, the website. I dont even wana think about that. It needs a total revamp.

I agree with all of Kiwi's observations on the specific cards.

Travis, the new card is MUCH better. Though I would prefer the word photography to be in the same font as The Perfect Pose. Also, the photo itself looks flat and gray. This could possibly be because of resizing, but it was worth mentioning so you could evaluate before actually printing.

:-)

Looks way better, Travis! I agree with the others. Use your own print.

Just got another card made.

Hi Sonja--I know you weren't looking for opinions, but when you make your next card, you might consider changing the word "snapshot" to "photo". I would hope all photographers you pay take more than a snapshot! I personally would rather see something like "where every photo is art!" Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for the opinions on my three cards! I like the idea of mixin' it up, too, so thankee for that.

I do think, since there's obviously so many folks with cards or an interest in having them, there should be a gallery or challenge or ongoing something about them. It's fun, too!

Thanks again,
Katy

Outstanding cards, all of them. I would not recommend using the fourth one only because it uses a registered trademark of another company (Pepsi) in your advertising, and that may cause you trouble.

hi, you know what? less is more. If the person won;t like the picture on the card you just lost a client. The photos are great its just that some people may think diffrently. Why not show a diffrent layout even without any photo. Just symbols like a camera or your picture doing serious work.

I think he meant the "you" in general terms.
People would expect to pay a photographer for photographs, not snapshots.
I like the positive twist of "where every photo is art" .. or something like that. Keeps the negative conotation out of it. :)
