Or for that matter, the Nikon 12-24mm. I'm interested in seeing if anyone has commments on that one too as well as the Sigma. Switched to digital and have no wide-angle now either. I have the Sigma 24 to 70 and that's a good lens so I'm hoping the 12-24 is good too. If you buy it, post some pics and let us know your thoughts. |

Not quite as wide, but have you looked at the Sigma 18-125? It seems to have gotten some good reviews in the forums of DPReview and from associates. The tradeoff on the low end gets you better range. I haven't bought in yet myself, but I'm close. |

I have the Sigma 12-24 and I think it kicks ass:
All of these were shot with the Sigma 12-24 @ 12mm |

I got the lens and used it for about 3 months. Overall I was pretty happy with its performance. The distortion is still pretty bad on the edges and it's unusably soft unless stopped down to f8-11. If you plan on doing flash photography, you'll need to buy a slave flash as the lens will cast a nasty shadow with the built-in flash.
I recently sold mine and went with the similarly priced Canon 17-40mm f/4L lens. It's not as wide as 12mm but it does go up to 40mm which works better as a general purpose wide angle lens for me. (And when I eventually do go full frame digital it'll be really nice.) |

Here are some additinal links to some 12mm photos with the Sigma 12-24 lens...

Here is a good comparison:
//www.pbase.com/jmsetzler/image/27801864 - 28mm view
//www.pbase.com/jmsetzler/image/28083411 - 12mm view from same point.
You can also look at this pbase link and see a large number of photos made with this lens. You may not know if any of them have been cropped from their original view though...
