Hopefully, by natural sunlight. 'Be creative' is assumed!
This is where I got the idea.

Other than, say from inside the snow-heap with artificial sunlight? Just joking, I knew what you meant..
I've got a 3 meter high heap of soil in my garden, for just such an occasion. |

Hm. It could be a snow shovel. Didn't think of that, but it could be. And some earth-moving equipment has a 'shovel' on the front, too. So, it could be interesting, what other items people put in the comp. |

I like it. I'm guessing "be creative" is assumed?

No, silly, it's Still Life, with shovel. With. A still life of a shovel would be less interesting, more like a catalog shot, so no, you've got to make a still life with a shovel included.
I like the way my example made use of the long handle, by making the wall a part of the still life. |

but maybe to broaden it a bit, "gardening/farming still life, with shovel" |

So long as it's not Stilled Life with Shovel. |

That kind of narrows it a bit, as there are more kinds of shovels than used for gardening.

LOL but yes that's another use for the shovel & a traditional subject for a still life. |

What happened to the idea of eliminating the often-confusing descriptions and just letting the challenge title/topic stand on its own? |

uh-oh! the comments on my OP are not intended as a description. Sorry for any confusion this may've caused. I agree. Most of the time, no description is needed. And if none is needed, it just clutters things up if one is put in anyway. So, none is needed. I agree. |

Unfortunately it was already in the queue... But I don't think the title/description are too obtrusive? |
