Yeah, ditto.
ETA You're right, Tate. There was a Not My Style challenge in 2013 and I chose her style to emulate, poorly as it turned out. I may have been thinking of another user who had a challenge in a style very like hers.

In much the same way that there is a thread dedicated only to Members of the Week, could there not be a similar thread for members who have already has In the Style of: challenges? Or could it not be easier to search the challenge archives? The current way of doing it is kinda annoying and could be so much easier. |

Don't search the challenge archives, look under challenge history: check the box to "show all" and click on the arrow to sort by challenge title:

Ah, ok. I got as far as "show all" but didn't think to sort by title. Ok, so did that now but still don't see it. Was it under a different title than "in the style of Neat"?

Sorry, I was just trying to show how to search for past challenges "efficiently" -- not saying that the "ITSO Neat" challenge was there ... it was already noted earlier in the thread that the idea that it had been previously done was a slight mistake of confusing entry subjects ... |

What is Anita's style ? Just flicked through her last 20 or so challenge entries and I don't really see a style at all, would it be to shoot kids? Not everyone here has a definitive style so I'm not sure these in the style challenges are relative to all of us, maybe we should name this "A tribute to Neat's success at DPC" or something along those lines. |

I tend to agree with Jagar on this; Neat's a very successful DPCer and I admire her for that, but I don't think there's enough "stylistic consistency" there for folks to latch onto and emulate. Incidentally, when they ran a "Style of Bear_Music" challenge a few years ago, I was thinking to myself "WHAT style?" since I see myself as all over the map and, basically, just a careless and opportunistic photographer with some processing skills... But that's neither here nor there, right? |

I think she demonstrates wonderful awareness of available light and often exploits it to good effect. Does that constitute a style...? I'm not sure. |

No...it just shows that she knows good light when she sees it and knows how to photograph it.
I think the word "style" is weird, like something you put on, which some people do. But for others, their "style" is just how they see things. |

I remember that challenge well and, although I tried right hard, I just could not recreate that wonderful image of yours
On the good side, I did end up with a whole bunch of kindling. :O)
Have a great day my friend.

That's so interesting that some say she doesn't have a style. I think she has a very distinct style, I recognize her in challenges a lot. Her photos to me are very dreamy feeling, hazy, sweet and innocent. And she uses a lot of what looks like...what is it...HDR processing? Is that it? I've been away from photography so long I don't even remember basic terms. Yikes. :S
Yeah, I definitely see a style. Would love to try to shoot something for a Neat challenge. |
