Love that one too! Can you make it available as a print as well? Yours along with Alan's will be fantastic for my son :-D

Here's the best shot of the eclipsed moon I've seen so far. It is not mine.

I was out there too. Pretty awesome sight. Reminded me of the total solar eclipse I saw a few years ago in Munich.

Yes I will. I might not get to it until next week, but I promise.

I guess I just don't get it. I have a 300mm lens and used about 30 different camera setting changes, a tri-pod and my shots still came out unworthy of posting.. great job everyone, would be nice to have that kind of knowledge. Guess I'll wait til next time and try again

Eclipses were traditionally seen as bad omens - the end of the world etc. Even now in fantasy stories they are often connected to some huge event that will mark a whole new world change. Personally, I think they're purty. There is nothing quite like experiencing a full solar eclipse.

yep, the election is coming....not the end of the world _exactly_, but close for one candidate!

I took a few shots...afraid to look till tomorrow. a few should be acceptable, but i don't have enough lens to get really nice shots.

Like the Red Sox winning the Series? I think there might be something to this!

... and the moon was RED ... Coincidence? I think not!

Trying for the "Diamond Ring" effect associated with solar eclipses. Marginally successful.

Of course none can compare to those posted that were taken with telescopes, but here's my effort

Thanks! I was just thinking that. In fact I tweaked it a bit. Felt it needed "something". :) Thanks again. Unfortunately it clouded over here also...I would have loved some more shots, but Ces't la vi. I got what I needed.

I hope I didn't offend...I was referring more to my own then anyone elses. Wasn't trying to imply that anyone's were bad, or that we are somehow lacking....

1st my telescope screwed me then the clouds came in which sucks but i'll live, even though i pride myself on being a "amiture" astrophotographer. its not sooo very bad... ok it is bad and disapointing.still there are enough of these shots already so it would be nothing specail, and there will be another one in the year 2007,augest 28 at least for the continental US,and Canada

oh well it was nice to watch seeing as how it was too damn cloudy to shoot

i like you guyz's shots though

Also I made a section for smaller files called eclipse_800x600 for those on dial up

And there is a cheap little animation I made as well

This is just the way my lucks been running lately -- clear skies up until an hour or so before the eclipse starts and now (*#$%@&*) an hour or so after the eclipse they are clear again -- nothing but rain and heavy cloud cover during. :( !

Thanks to everyone for posting their images; at least I didn't miss it completely this way. :)

Here is my humble photo of the eclipse, wish I had a more powerful lens. Would love a larger shot with more detail, but this was the best I could do with what I had. Lunar Eclipse

It was a perfect night last night. Here are two I have to share.

First-time moonshooting. Not an eclipse nor a cloud in Japan tonight.

>TomH1000 - great shots.
>Scalvert - ditto.

Thanks, Koriyama. I looked at my shots this morning on a CRT at the office and they looked really flat compared to my LCD display at home (as expected, I suppose). I made a quick fix so they should be a little better now.

Here is my attempt at shooting the eclipse. I am making a print for my daughter so she can take it into her science class.

Great job everyone.

Here is my attempt. Very hard capturing the moon with a Canon A60 without any lens or telescope. I searched around my house and all I could find was a small golf scope. ;-) I'm quite pleased with what I got considering the equipement I had. Tell me what you think!

Jab - I SOOO appreciate your effort. I looked for your PM, and looked, ...and looked. Finally I realized my email address is wrong on dpc. Fixed now. I ran out after posting to buy an adapter. While I was out I picked up a sigma 28-300mm lens. The adapter turned out not to be the right thing, but the lens helped out.

I left my tripod shoe at the house, so my shots were handheld. Full frame, that is really obvious, but I thought they looked alright scaled down. I hope no one minds that I took some inspiration from their montages. Here's mine:

I like these progression shots, but I didn't get started early enough to capture the beginning phases of the eclipse, and it got cloudy during totality so I couldn't capture the end. This is about the best I could do...
