I love it and hate it when a child of mine grows up enough to ask for his birthday for:

Strainer
Tongs
Pot (not the drugs kind) with lid (not the drugs kind)
Skillet
Measuring cups...

You get the idea.

Our youngest has his first apartment.

He wants mac and cheese. And bacon.

Ha!

Oh dang.

I'm really old now. He's the youngest of four... and he's twenty.

So... give me some slack... some elderly slack now on my photos???

:D

Don't worry. You'll forget all about it shortly.
Now go put on some flannel pj's, oversized glasses, a housecoat and slippers, then fall asleep in your recliner while channel surfing. It will all be better in the morning. ;0

Other than the flannel... I do this every night.

But... you're sweet to imagine how old people live, Ryan.

:D

'You are old, Father William' (1865)
Lewis Carroll

âYou are old, Father William,â the young man said,
âAnd your hair has become very white;
And yet you incessantly stand on your head â
Do you think, at your age, it is right?â

âIn my youth,â Father William replied to his son,
âI feared it might injure the brain;
But, now that Iâm perfectly sure I have none,
Why, I do it again and again.â

âYou are old,â said the youth, âas I mentioned before,
And have grown most uncommonly fat;
Yet you turned a back-somersault in at the door â
Pray, what is the reason of that?â

âIn my youth,â said the sage, as he shook his grey locks,
âI kept all my limbs very supple
By the use of this ointment â one shilling the box â
Allow me to sell you a couple?â

âYou are old,â said the youth, âand your jaws are too weak
For anything tougher than suet;
Yet you finished the goose, with the bones and the beak â
Pray how did you manage to do it?â

âIn my youth,â said his father, âI took to the law,
And argued each case with my wife;
And the muscular strength, which it gave to my jaw,
Has lasted the rest of my life.â

âYou are old,â said the youth, âone would hardly suppose
That your eye was as steady as ever;
Yet you balanced an eel on the end of your nose â
What made you so awfully clever?â

âI have answered three questions, and that is enough,â
Said his father; âdonât give yourself airs!
Do you think I can listen all day to such stuff?
Be off, or Iâll kick you downstairs!â

****************

That's our Lydia, see? Shall we we call her "Mother William" for a while?

Hmmm.... how do you feel about a diet of scrambled eggs, mac' and cheese, and bacon (exclusively), Susan?

All he needs is to learn to FRY eggs and then he has all the necessary skills for a killer ried egg sandwich, which is absolute top-tier nutrition :-)

I think we should all just be happy if he doesn't starve.

That's my goal for him this first year. :D
