#1 Disagree. It takes longer for some people to come up with an idea or they just have no time to photograph anything until last few hours of the deadline.
#2 It would only work provided a user HAS to unsubmit the photo before replacing it.
#3 Agree. Or at least increase the percentage for the vote to count.
#4 It would work provided #1, #2 and #3 are accepted. |
#1- I know is hard because I usually donât come up with my submitted photograph until a day or two before the time ends. So I would have to be quicker But this would make the challenge more challenging. You have to be prepared to take that photo whenever the opportunity arises. And it gives less time to PS it.
#2- You DO have to un-submit a photo before you can replace it. And you canât have 2 entries in one challenge.
#3- I agree even 50% would be better than 20. The only reason I believe people should vote on all or [compromise] most entries is because some [not all] of the people that are voting on just 20 percent try to judge the thumbnail to see if its worth opening and voting on it. And some of these people are the same ones that vote a picture a 1 if its to small and leaves a comment âto small to judgeâ. If a picture is to small to judge adequately then looking at a thumbnail to determine if a picture is worth voting on is also inadequate.
#4- The above would make it work in my opinion. |
For #2. You can just upload new photo without unsubmitting your old one. Try it.
Now, at this time of the year, I only "see" daylight on the weekends. I leave for work - it's dark. I get home -it's dark. No time to shoot anything except night shots or studio type setting. Not good. I would be outed by the other "slackers" that have time to shoot any time of the day ;-D

This site is now also about making money with DPCprints so i can never see there being a limit on entries.
What will happen, and has happened is more challenges and maybe there will be categories within the open challenges ie age/camera type. |
You may be right BUT on the other hand IF they become a member they will have more than one challenge to enter giving them a better chance of being in the first 200. |

Limiting the number of entries just means folks would rush to beat the cap and the quality of photos would suffer... Also membership would nosedive...
Forcing people to vote and/or comment more would have the same effect on votes and comments... quantity up, quality down... I'd rather someone not vote, then vote with a random number generator because they have to... I also prefer voluntary, thoughtfull comments to the 200 "Nice" or "Crap" comments from people forced to meet a quota...
Lastily, and most importantly, It ain't broke... Things are fine... Don't have time to vote on 900 photos in a week? don't :) I try to vote in all the member challenges, entered or not... I'm trying to comment more too... But if time doesn't allow, well, I won't :) Problem solved :)

I did not know you could submit another photo while you have one already submitted. With that said, if you do so would it violate DPC rules even if you plan to un-submit one of them.
DPC Rule States:
Disqualification
If the validity of your submitted photograph comes into question, you may be asked to submit your original, unmodified photograph and steps to recreate your submitted photograph from your original photograph. This original photograph must contain valid, unaltered EXIF data. If you are unable to produce your original photo under these circumstances, your photograph will be disqualified. A photograph may only be used in one challenge, even if it is cropped or altered differently to fit another challenge. Duplicate photos will be disqualified. A person may only hold one DPChallenge account and may submit only one photograph per challenge. He will not be able to vote on his own image.

You've misunderstood... When you resubmit a photo, it will "unsubmit" (It's a word, sure) the old one... But in effect, you have replaced the old with the new

Yep. However, I am not sure what the process is in the background in the code, but the button says UPDATE :-D

Ok I think I know what your saying. If I have a photo already submitted I could [without clicking the unsubmit button] just click browse and replace it with a different photo. Is that what you are say? |
