I love comments. everyonedoes. anyone who has left one for me, thank you.
But...
Give me whatever ever score you want; just don't waste your time telling me why in your response. That is teaching to the test. I really don't care if you thought I didn't meet the challenge. Think outside the box. Open your mind... etc.
and leave your comment that I didn't meet the challenge out.
Use the blue kitty method...

If you don't want comments I suggest you don't enter. |

So, in other words, you only want nice comments? |

I think he just doesn't want "doesn't meet the challenge" comments and scores with reasons (but I suppose just scores are okay).

I don't get it. How can you comment unless you say why you voted a cetain way? Photography is very personal and what effect it has on us equates to how we vote. If I don't understand how it meets the challenge then that means it did not "speak" to me. If I get enough comments along those lines then it means I was a little out there for this audience. Seems valid to me. |

The whole idea of "if you don't have anything good to say, don't say it at all". I should subscribe to this particular theory.

I love comments, even the ones which are fundamentally not helpful (e.g., don't point out how my photo could have been stronger).
I like all comments for the simple reason that someone is responding to a photo I took. That's why I enter challenges, to put my work in front of the public and have them respond. Inane, nonsensical, psychotic, mispelled, whatever; it's all a response from Jane and Joe public, and that's what I love!
So keep'em coming, constructive or not, helpful or not. I love comments! |

It's threads like this that make people stop commenting... Please, everyone, know that the vast majority of people here 'want' comments and don't be put off by the thin skinned few that want no opinion other than their own.

why would a comment suggesting why your image could have been improved be "fundamentally not helpful"? Aren't you open to the idea that someone could have a different plan of execution for a given idea?
Wouldn't that be valuable and something worth learning?
I understand if you think that for a challenge submission, telling you how it could have been done differently is not going to do you any short term good since you can't reshoot and resubmit, but if you look at the big picture, perhaps a well considered comment that tighter framing or increased contrast or considering a different point of view would benefit your photography in general and your future challenge entries specifically.

I guess I don't mind the stupid, small brained thoughtless inane assanine comments that say "you don't meet the challenge"
I really don't mind negative comments or insulting comments otherwise,
such as
"I gave you a 2 because you didn't meet the challenge, you technical expertise was ok but you didn't meet the challenge and I had to score you low because you didn't meet the challenge, if you met the challenge, I would have given you a challenge meeting type score"
Oh yeah, thatcloud- one thing you'll never see is "IHAC" written on the"I hate acronyms club t-shirts! |

My message was worded carelessly. It should have said "e.g., those that don't point out..." meaning, I even love messages that don't point out improvements.
As it was, you interpreted as meaning I'm telling people not to point out how I could improve. I was typing in a hurry before I left my office.

Some strange posts here..
If you meet the challenge then you start at "1" in my personal scoring method. If I don't get it, I PM you.
Commence calling me stupid, I find it intellectually stimulating.
No really, it's fascinating. Oh wait, no it's not.
