I have been looking at a motion detecting shutter release similar to how a trail camera works. I would setup up all camera settings. The grey area is, I would not be intentionally photographing whatever animal happened to wonder by. I would be leaving the setup for days at a time and returning to see what has been captured. Would this still be within "the spirit" of the rules?

I don't currently have this setup, but am considering setting one up this fall.

Your photographic agency alone will have caused the picture to exist. It's absolutely fine.

I believe any shot that you design is legal. Having someone else click the shutter or using a remote trigger would really be no different than what you are planning.

Ha! A direct consequence of being immersed in the boxed set of Penny Dreadful! What script writing!

Penny Dreadful is brilliant, though it hasn't rubbed off on my vocabulary as it has yours.
