Before anyone points it out I did notice that the color in the flower picture is a bit too bright. |

They are very nice. Good colors saturation and sharpness. Must have been very close to blurr the background so much on your camera. Well done.
Recomend that you make thumbnails with links to your images. Not very popular to have so large images in a threads.

Hi Liger,
Welcome to DPC, I see you signed up yesterday. First let me ask a favor from you, when posting a picture in the forums post them as a thumbnail linked to the larger picture or post a link to your picture. It will help the people with slower connection speeds. The icons at the top of the box when you are typing in your subject is where you go to do the above or you can search the forums, others has post how it is done.
Now to the picture at hand:
IMO they look good but could use some cropping to achieve the rule of thirds [#1 and maybe #2]. The lighting is good on both photos even though picture #2 is to dark in the middle of the flower, that's what makes the pedals look to bright. Also #2 [taken at the current angle] makes it look like the left side of the flower is cut off, you may want to take another picture at the same time of day a few steps to the right to open up the left side of the flower.
Nothing much more to say about them, they are good coming straight out of the camera. What editing program will you be using?

You can fix that. I think you just crituqued your own photo which is the beginning of getting better. Good job.
I was only able to bring up the second link. |

I hope you're asking for a honest, candid opinion... Cause that's what I tend to give.
Photo 1 is very nice. Cropping could do interesting things to it, but I think centered is best for this subject. The focus is nice and it's an interesting enough subject to make it worth a nice long look.
Photo 2 left me a little flat. There were a few things I didn't care for in it. The stem coming out of the top, the house in the background, the other stems around it... I don't think these added anything and they kind of took away (at least for me). The overly bright leaf on the right side and the leaf in the bottom left corner also took away from it. Not knowing what is to the left in the background I can't say this is possible, but if you could have stepped to your right a bit and had the green veggie background in the whole frame I think it would have improved the shot tremendously. Also if you could have held the other stalks aside to isolate just the flower on the background, I believe it would have helped the impact of the shot.
That said, I should point out that I'm no expert in flower photography (or any other photography for that matter) and that this is just my opinion. The most important opinion is yours... If you like it, then frame it and hang it on a wall :)
Again, I enjoyed the first one very much and look forward to seeing more of your work... Welcome to the site...

The first photo documents the fact there was a mushroom in front of your camera. That's it. You should look at different angles to make it more interesting.
The second shot is a bit more interesting because of the vibrant color of the flower, however the back ground it way too busy. The vinyl siding and gutter really take away from the effectiveness of the photo. Again, try shooting at a different angle, maybe using the sky as a backdrop.
Thanks for sharing your images.
