Hidden Gems

Expert Editing

It's time to revisit your archive - but this time under the Expert ruleset.

I'm game.

Sure. That way nobody has an excuse.

Can always find something for one of these, though I probably won't take it to the expert editing ruleset. I think it's been proven that just because you can, you don't have to.

Let's do a test and run this side-by-side with a Hidden Gems (Advanced Rules).

I like the concept of perusing the archives. Expert rules, not so much. :-)

It won't -- which is one reason I wonder why people don't archive all originals. When you shot film, did you routinely burn the negatives after making a print?

Never kept negatives from those box films

I think it would be an interesting little "experiment" if some of those capable of expert would want to, have the time to and be allowed to enter "the same image", with different processing, in both challenges. I would love to (out of curiosity) see what the difference in rules mean for different expert capable photographers. I am just gobsmacked by some of the stuff that expert rule challenges produce and would love to see the difference. I do of course not mean it should be a requirement to enter both challenges. Just an option for those who want :)

Yes please. I would be nice to get my shot to look the way I want without wondering if I'm breaking some kind of rule or other.

This would be a perfect chance to demonstrate that Expert editing is more than a one-way ticket to Wonderland.

You MAY:
drop in a better sky or anything else your composition needs
remove all the distracting elements
create a perfect background
dodge & burn to your heart's content
make full use of any editing tool
use any lens effect you want
take full advantage of any plug-in

You MUST
fully realize your vision

You may NOT
worry

Can we have a month to do it?
