If I can find the time I'll stop a few in. In most cases I think the result will be so minute that it may open some eyes that those who want looser aren't asking to change the world. |

Perhaps it's time to revisit the no rules suggestion. Open competition, run what you brung, challenges. Say onesie a month, or once a quarter. Only limits, are date range and size/space.
Perhaps this will work some of the pent up need to push boundaries in the other challenges.
As an incentive, no DQ in the previous 25 challenges to play. |

Isn't that pretty much what Expert editing is?

I'd like to see expert editing for challenges that don't encourage creating a composite masterpiece. i would have loved to have done landscape or bridges in expert, or even opposites.
can we get simple theme with expert? |

No. The door to creativity opens all the way or not at all. |

"If I were King of the World" filter: ON
Coding realities filter: OFF
Create an âOpen Rulesetâ challenge where weâ¦
⢠Retain all the current rule sets in their current form.
⢠Allow each member to enter the challenge with a declaration of the rule set under which they are entering included in the title. Examples:
- CHALLENGE: Bridges
- Bridge to Nowhere â MINIMAL
- Bridge to Somewhere â BASIC
- Bridge to Paradise â ADVANCED -
- Bridge to Oblivion â EXPERT
⢠Proceed as always with voting and commenting.
⢠Entries without a declared ruleset are ineligible for awards
⢠At the end of voting, the overall high scores are awarded ribbons, as always.
⢠Additionally, each subcategory of ruleset specific entries are ranked and awarded bling or bragging rights of sorts.
"If I were King of the World" filter: Off
Coding realities filter: ON
I know, not gonna happen for a whole host of really good valid reasons, but...one can dream, right? |

As someone who loves Expert editing, I couldn't agree more! I have thought this many times as see the titles of the Expert challenges pop up....even something simple like "Red" could be fun to do in Expert. My opinion anyway. :) I always feel like the Expert challenges try *so hard* to be "creative" when the creativity should come from the photographer! |

I agree. I love the well-done composites, but would like to see some "regular" topics with an open rule set. Why can't we limit it to 10 photos of the same scene, only drop the requirement that nothing can change within each image. |

I think we are going in the right direction with this conversation.
THere are plenty of photographic artists / illustrators that we could do tributes to where expert edit would be appropriate. And yes, expert editing on simple topics I am on board with.
Certainly would make for a wide array of images to vote on I would imagine.
The challenge topics and their assigned rule-sets are proposed by members right? So go ahead and make the challenge topic suggestions! =D
