Got it and thanks!
edited to take out two "got it"'s since I realized having them in made me sound sassy and I didn't at all intend to be :)

I suspect this is already buried somewhere in here, but I've managed to look through 1/2 the posts without finding it and at least that means I wasn't completely lazy.
When averaging the top 4 scores for each team, is that across both challenges, or are the top 4 from each challenge combined (i.e. 8 scores) and averaged? I'd assumed the latter, but on reread this morning I'm thinking it's just the 4 highest scores of the week. |

It's just the 4 highest scores of the week, but the same person can't be counted twice. |

Is each DPL Challenge going to have something in the description like "DPL Challenge"? |

It would appear not given the Graveyard description. |

Would be a +. Say in return for the multiple-hours-taking challenge calculation of today. |

Ok, this one actually made me laugh.
My understanding was that all challenges are part of the DPL, except for the monthly free studies, and any special or speed challenges.
Then again I have been accused of not understanding many, many things. |

Only the challenges announced at rollover Sunday/Tuesday nights count; not the Thursday night or monthly/speed challenges. |

Would it please be possible to have a mark on those challenges? Any mark? Please pretty please? |

The are marked Sunday and Tuesday. :)
Seriously, it's on the DPL team page too specifically named. |

I think here is a good rationale for limiting the TPL challenges to two per week, as it is currently structured. One is a member challenge, the other is an open challenge. By my count, there are 8 teams with regstered users on them.
The current rules already favor member-only teams as each member has two opportunities a week to get their highest score. Non-members only have one shot. Adding another challenge would amplify this difference, giving the members-only teams further advantage.
It really quite impressive how well planned and thought out this whole DPL thing is. I joined as a registered user just abou tthe time the last official DPL was winding down and have been disappointed that it hasn't come up again sooner. Kudos to the originators and the SC and Langdon for getting this back up and running. It's fun to be part of it!
Personally, I'm in it for the community aspect. Fascinating how much more engaged I feel since this is starting up again. I hope DPL Season 4 isn't as long in coming when this one's done!

Just as a small reality check: let's be aware that not all DPCers are playing in the league, and this will especially be true of new members as they wander in, of course. Any sort of *marking* like has been proposed may well end up confusing non-participants, who might think "I'm not in the league, this challenge isn't meant for me!" There's really nothing to be gained by marking the challenges, if you're in the league you should know which ones they are, the "Sunday" and "Tuesday" challenges. And if you make a *mistake* (oh, God forbid!) and enter the "Thursday" challenge as well, it's not like you've LOST anything, is it?

I am not saying lets make huge changes to the site but I will say that it's one of the reasons I left so many years ago. On that same note if someone new came to the site and asked what's with the blue? what's the difference if they came to the site and asked what's with the white and blue people?
I'm by no means special and I can do the extra leg work to find out what challenges are DPL challenges but it's the fact that it would be easier and faster to see DPL challenges if they were marked somehow.
People will be confused either way and newcomers are clueless to the effect of DPC. Old timers will understand a DPC image from a GOOD image. Moral of my suggestion is during the DPL season marking challenges would be beneficial to players and those that aren't can just ignore it. That or just display the BG color change to only people playing in the DPL. That would be an easy script to right.

That didn't take long....
In a breathless Reganesque voice... "Well now there you go again..." ;-) |
