After some discussion, we've decided to increase team size to 9 (from 7) and go forward with 24 teams for Season 3.
Captains from teams #1-24, please consider inviting more folks to your team from teams #25 and #26 (Team OgieZoomi and Cosmik Debris) who won't make it, as well as remaining users from the from the free agent pool. |

I have sent out two more invitations. It would be helpful if the captains from Teams 25 and 26 would let us know here how many of their members have been picked up by other teams and who still needs a home!

See the list of teams here. The last 3 on the list will not be playing. You need to contact a member on those teams by PM and ask them if they want to join you. If so, they need to go to their league page and withdraw from their current team, at which point you can manually enter their name of your own team list, update the team status, and issue an invitation. This does not HAVE to be done from the FA pool, if they are not in it.
If you choose someone who IS in the FA Pool, once they have accepted your invitation they are automatically withdrawn from the pool.

This is kind of a big deal. Could we please get clarification on how this season is going to be run EXACTLY?
In Season 1 they averaged the top 4 scores, in Season 2 they averaged the top 5 scores ... in Season 3 ???!
ETA - also, don't we have 3 challenges a week now instead of 2 (back when these rules were written)?
From FAQ's (item 4)
4 - How does the scoring work?
There are two parts to this:
Team Member Scores - Each week, there are two challenges - member (Sunday) and open (Tuesday), to which all (DPC member) team members can enter either or both. The 4 (Season 1) or 5 (Season 2) best scores from the best 4 (Season 1) or 5 (Season 2) team members are averaged together to make the Team Score for that week.
Team Scores - Once the team score has been calculated from the team member scores, the team with the highest score wins that week's match.

Now that we have 9 members per team...doesn't it seem prudent that we use the top 5 scores???
Or at least add a bonus point (or %) for participating???

| We're using the top 4 scores this season. Even though team size has increased by 2. A lot of these people are new to the game, and we don't want them to feel pressured. The way I like to look at it, there are now two levels of competition: 1 is the competition WITHIN the team to have a top score, and 2 is BETWEEN the teams to beat the other guys. From my perspective, Janine, everyone's participation "counts" because they become part of a team that's actively working together to bootstrap EVERYONE up to a higher level. |

I have modified the DPL FAQs with regard to how may scores will count each week: we are counting the top 4, NOT the top 5. This is official. I'll try to coordinate with Langdon to see what else needs modifying: for example, I'm not entirely sure how many weeks the season will be until I see the brackets. I'll do my best to get the FAQ up-to-date during the first week of the season.
The MAIN thing is: you may have up to 9 team members, the top 4 individual scores will be counted toward the team average (but no team member may contribute more than 1 score per week), and we will be counting ONLY the Sun/Mon and Tue/Wed rollover challenges, not the Thur/Fri ones, nor free studies, special challenges, etc.
That should be enough for y'all to work with right now, I hope? |

Thanks, that is enough for now. At least we know what we have to do and it's official, no more guessing.
Now just need to get those in the free agent pool to respond to emails. Wish I could just send invites to all of them and who ever accepts first gets in. Have sent emails, started a thread, sent out two invitations (the most I can send)..........I am done trying. Either I hear back from people, my invites get accepted, or I go into DPL with 7. So, if you want to get on a team for DPL.......shoot me a message. |

Remember, if you go into DPL with a short roster, you are allowed to add players as the season progresses, if you can find some who want to join. Typically, when the season gets underway a certain number of people think "Hey, that looks like fun!" and ask how they can get in. Also, FWIW, this is why we kept the number of scores used per week at 4, or one of the main reasons; we anticipated that some teams might NOT fill out to 9. |
