Well, come on, out with it. Is it for the 7-14/2.8 or 300/4 new pro lenses? Or are you under an NDA and can't say? |
Yeah, something like that although it is not a formal NDA in writing. I was told about the upcoming announcements and releases back in January so I don't remember much other than the one particular camera that I have been waiting for...The Olympus Tough TG-4. The TG-3 was an awesome waterproof camera that Olympus sold out of because they greatly underestimated the demand. They contracted the factory a certain amount of production based on the declining demand for point and shoots and didn't anticipate that the TG-3 was different enough that it would be a standout in that category. As good as the TG-3 was, the TG-4 will blow it away. For one thing, it will shoot RAW! I've been waiting for this in a waterproof point and shoot. There are quite a few other new features to the replacement as well.
As I said, I can't remember which new products are going to be announced when, but expect a 12mm f/1.0 lens sometime soon as well. |
Thanks Robert. I hope you won't be photographing these guys underwater with your new TG-4 when it comes:)
Still blown away by this image after all these years.
And great to hear that the f1 lenses will actually be coming to fruition.

It arrived yesterday, just before work. Impressions are that I love it. AF is awesome, my initial tests on noise are impressive, the macro ability is great and the controls are pretty stellar. Don't like the "Filter" button, and I'm still figuring out how I want to customize the controls, but very happy thus far. I also really love the wifi, means I can upload to my phone, edit, send it off on the spot instantly. I'm amazed at how quiet the shutter is. I knew it was quiet, but it's practically nonexistent. |

I was also impressed with the high ISO and with the ease of handling.
I set i have assigned FN1 button to allow me to set the focus point position. Wifi is neat. I wished I could change the Aperture and Shutter speed via remote control but is not possible. A swivel LCD would have been appreciated. Apart from that everything is too awesome.
The iA button can be set to long press so you avoid activating it.

Well, I skipped my GAS medication this morning and I just pulled the trigger on the Olympus OMD EM-5 MKII and the 12-40 f2.8 PRO lens. I just couldn't pass up the promo that Olympus is offering camera store employees. |

Robert, I am sure you'll love this combo! I just bought my second 12-40 f2.8 PRO (the first one is resting on the bottom of a sacred pool in Maui, LOL), it is such a great lens! And while the promo lasts, you're ought to treat yourself with a 75mm f/1.8. This lens is nothing short of amazing. Sharper across the frame than any Nikon lens I ever owned.

Ever since I discovered the Fuji X system I've had a terrible case of GAS, but I've almost conquered it, I just need the 50-140 2.8 and the 16-55 2.8 and I'll be done forever
That is until the 90mm comes out. Or the super telephoto. Oh and of course the XPro2. And.......................
I'm hopeless. |

I thought I had my GAS under control until I saw the Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 mentioned on DPC recently. I'm getting a bit tired of dealing with dirty sensors and always having the wrong lens on my camera. And I've always been a bit disappointed with the stabilisation on my OM-D. I think the camera's just to small to counteract my rather shaky hands.
The combination of a 1 inch sensor and a 25-400mm zoom sure is tempting. |

I am very upset at how good Tiberius's lx100 shots are. I had just about settled on the Ricoh GR to replace my slightly failing trusty LX3. |

Seriously, the LX100 will blow your LX3 mind. The LX3 taught me that P&S cameras didn't have to be wretched. The LX5 taught me that I could get awesome photos of most of my activities and situations with just the P&S, keeping the DSLR for high iso, focus critical shots, fast moving shots, telephoto, super wide, 1:1 macro, or high dynamic range scenes. The LX100 taught me that my D300 is only better when I need 1:1 macro, super wide in a single shot, or heavy telephoto work. In other words, specialist scenarios. Hell, with the shutter on the LX100, I can use flashes no problem with a 1/4000 second shutter. |

Well, it was just delivered by UPS to the dockmaster's office and it looks like I am the "1" owner on DPC. That's a first for me. |
