My apologies if anyone came up with something wittier and more elegant for a score thread title.

I was wondering if the definition of a tradesman is different in other parts of the world? Tried to score on the photographic merit and not worry about wether I considered it to meet the challenge too much for that reason. |

I had that exact conversation with someone! My definition / interpretation of what / who constitutes a 'tradesman' is vastly different to some in other parts of the world. I for one will be shifting my paradigm when voting on this challenge. |

We (NZ) class a tradesman as a person who has usually done an apprenticeship with a qualified tradesman orFirm
He /she has passed all the examinations and hands on work over a pescribed time frame, after a final examination they are trade qualified and are registered to legally do the work.. Plumbers and electricians cannot work with out holding the proper papers and being on the register for their trade |

I found it very interesting as I scrolled through,
It is what makes the world turn around. I withdrew my entry and will share it in the outtakes. I will vote and comment though to replace my entry.

So in your world a Doctor is one and a Market stall holder is not ? |

there a several really great shots in this challenge. Many b&w - seems to be a style that is popular for tradesmen...
I really enjoyed voting and commenting on this |

Should've shot for the brown instead of really trying. |

YES of course. Would you buy medication from a stall holder.Or have a home handyman wire up your new home,
The consumer is protected by having tradies registered
Doctors and other professionals have studied long and hard for their degrees and the are also registered by the medical councils etc and cannot practice without that ticket .Issued by their professional body.

But is it a good photograph? Does it matter? |

Also as in many countries there are the Cowboys, Self taught, and unqualified who work cheap for cash. you may strike a good honest one but mainly they are rip off merchant.
We have problems in Nz with travelling gangs of (mainly) British gypsies doing sub standard tree felling and hedge cutting relaying drive ways etc. all shoddy work, cash in advance, once they have the cash they are gone..No come back for the customer . |
