I've noticed that some posts have been getting deleted. In one thread inparticular, there are people responding to posts that no longer exists. Shouldn't we be given a reason why a post was deleted so we know what we did wrong?

If he tells me which thread, I can see the deleted post. They're hidden, not deleted.

I'm not sure because I don't keep a log of what I posted, but I beleive there were a lot more posts in the "60 minutes has no credability" thread, and some of the missing ones were probably mine.
There are actually posts in there directed at me before I said anything (as read currently). Thus, it's making it look like someone else is throwing things at me for no reason (which is not fair to that person). Thus, it would be a good idea to leave something in there saying the post was deleted and why to explain the responses and let me know what I did wrong.
I think I remeber what I said, and I don't understand why it would have been deleted.

louddog - your first quote in the 60 mins thread is the last quote on page 3 of this thread:
//www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=122728&page=3
Just a bit of cross posting.
I found the link by looking for "20040910", which is contained in the URL you reference.

I'd say it's more likely that people edited out their original comments. Unless I'm mistaken, if a post is deleted by SC, any quotes of that comment are edited as well.

I just checked and there haven't been any posts deleted in that thread (as CJ said, they aren't deleted, just hidden) so anything missing would be a result of the author changing it themselves. |

Are my posts being deleted now? ;-)
It was a cross post. See my post above.

No posts have been removed from that thread by any member of Site Council.
Any hidden posts show up to Site Council with a red background, so they're pretty hard for us to miss.

That's not automatic. We will often do so, but it is a manual process on each post.

Okay, I got it. Darn cross posters got me all confused!
Edited to say thanks for clearing up my confusion....

It's a post about Christianity. ;-)
Seriously, cross-posting is the act of posting the same or similar message to multiple threads or folders. It is generally frowned upon in most online communities and should generally be avoided.
