We had one of those in 2004.

Ten years seems like a long enough wait for another.

If you go back and read some of the threads, you may think it is just the 'twinkling of an eye'
or perhaps, "it'll be a long time before that one sees the light of day again!"

Another ten years or so and it might be time...

Yet there have been 3 Masters challenges in that timespan...

Masters Free Study is for the ribbon hogs only.

To me, we have so few entries, few comments, and few votes (compared to "the good ol' days") that denying anyone from participating in any challenge is like shooting one's self in the foot.

Masters Free Study denies anyone without ribbons from entering but the people with several ribbons don't complain about that.

How about we have challenges that push our photgraphic skill and/or visions not ones that are based on how many comments someone has made and/or received?

Masters' Free Study is a "tradition"... not something new that we're adding... and... if I remember correctly, it's an "extra" challenge... so it's not taking away from anyone... just adding something extra for that one challenge.

I don't have a problem with not having the Masters' Free Study... or with having any other challenge that excludes some...

I'm just stating my opinion about the State of the DPC Union. We need to be encouraging participation in EVERY area... instead of excluding it in any area.

But... I'm just one of many... and I respect everyone's opinion. It's just as valid as my own.

Except well.. that... mine is right. *grin*

Carry on...

Who has the popcorn?

Ken??

hmmmm

I know if I can't win a ribbon the regular way why would I wish to go into a specific challenge where the ones that already won ribbons are excluded.. obviously, my photographs are excluding something still and I haven't learned the right things yet to even get in the top 10...
I know if I get that far some day, it will be deserved... No need here to make a special challenge just because a lot never won virtual ribbons...

Popcorn is good here! I have the cheese to add to it!

## Added##
Besides, my learning comes from those that land in the top 20....they got the knack!

I'm not a fan of exclusionary challenges of any type.

I have given many more comments, than I have received. And that is OK by me. I'd rather have a comment because someone had something they wanted to say, than to have a hundred comments from people trying to qualify for a challenge.

I never quite got the master's challenges... Aren't they able to compete whenever they want? But then as a non ribbon winner there might be something, besides photography, that I just do not understand...

Then again there are plenty more challenges I do not enter, than I do enter, so it is not I like it am left wanting for challenge opportunities.

It's an ego gimmick indended to bring out the more experienced photographers who might otherwise have lost interest. If you routinely place high, there's an extra challenge to competing against ONLY people who routinely place high that can draw in members who haven't submitted in a long time.

Crap. Does that make me a whore?

*sigh*

'Cause I get screwed every time I enter one of those! LOL!
