I'll have more respect for this point of view when you start wearing makeup yourself, Mike. Or aren't men "people" also?

who says men can't wear makeup? in fact some do.. and especially on tv and in movies, you know, where Photoshop doesn't exist...

i just take issue with the topic of photoshop manipulation being disgusting. its just a way to get your end product the way you want it.

Don't skirt the issue, Mike: you as much as said women HAVE to wear makeup to meet your standards, and I'm asking "How about guys?" This is entirely peripheral to the Photoshop debate.

i think you misunderstood that that list wasn't complete or comprehensive.

for instance women, based on my standards, need to shave off most of the their body hair, men don't.

Mike, I can't quite recall if I've seen this somewhere before, but I'm curious as to whether or not you are an engineer?

I can't remember where it was posted, but I am pretty sure Mike is a hairdresser and part-time interior designer. ...not that there's anything wrong with that.

care to share or would you rather just insinuate a cheap shot. you found an article on the internet where a model is shocked, shocked! that someone would photoshop away her flaws, the horror! last time i checked, models are selected based on their appearance. i don't get why this is so hard to understand. if models showed up in shape and fit like they are expected to, photoshopping to extreme levels doesn't need to occur. nobody is buying their charming personality or their dashing wit. They are using their appearance to sell something and they better look good if they expect to keep working.

on my website i only put attractive people, why? because i want potential customers to think that they can look like that and for the most part, it works. i have people tell me all the time they want me pictures but I need to Photoshop this or this.. i reassure them that they are being self conscious but i Photoshop it anyway. People like looking at pretty things, hell it happens on dpc, pretty images and faces always score higher.

so if you like to argue a counterpoint, go for it, but i still maintain that this isn't a bad problem, in fact given the vast amount overweight people in this country its a good problem. just because some people take it to extremes doesn't make it disgusting.

im sorry that my preference's bother some people, i also prefer blue to green, hot to cold and canon to nikon.

Someday, you wake up with enough wisdom to get past the "frat bro" way of looking at life. It usually coincides with the loss of the need to play devil's advocate in forums online. If you are shaking your head saying "whatever dude"- the time has not yet come....

(As a side note, I agree that underarm hair on women should be removed prior to the shoot, not in post. It is simply not attractive, just an opinion)

Mike, I have absolutely no intention of continuing a dialogue with you regarding this subject. My personal experience over many, many years and many, many interactions with engineers indicates that any such dialogue will be futile. I have other ways to spend my time. Please carry on.

I tried. Really I did. Couldn't do it. Even tried Karin's breathing trick.

Let me help here: I suspect she's referring to how engineers, as a class, seem inclined to view everything as a problem that needs solving, and how they tend to consider their own, "highly rational" form of thinking as the most effective way to approach life. In my experience, engineers, collectively, are among the more dogmatic people on the planet; it's just a secular breed of dogmatism, not a religious one.
