I can honestly say that without DPC, my abilities with a digital camera would be nowhere near what they are today. It has really helped harness my competitive and creative spirit on MANY occasions.
And the people here are so friendly and knowledgeable, it is hard to stay away!
Since I started here, I have progressed greatly: I have had people pay for my photography services on several occasions, started selling stock photos, and won a few contests (one prize was a trip to anywhere in the US which was won with a slightly different version of this image):  -
Special thanks to beatabg for pulling me back here recently with the TPL team. And sfalice it was always fun being your teammate from the other side of the states - I feel like we are real friends =). And  posthumous, there's nothing quite like getting one of your ribbons on an image that seemed to get lost in the middle somewhere - what a great contribution that is to this site!
Also always want to remember my times with justamistere  because we found ourselves in some pretty crazy locations - all for a shot at a little ribbon made of pixels ! ;]
Part of me feels like I've spent way too much time on this site - but truth be told, it was probably more valuable that any photography class or psychologist session - because I have benefited greatly in many ways =]
As far as one of those images that I still like to look back on, it was my first trip overseas and I was following my future-wife and some friends all-over Rome, Italy. I was always lagging behind becuase I was shooting photos. When I shot this I didn't even see these people. In fact, if I did, I may have thought "Oh you are in the way of my shot!" - little did I know, they made it more interesting:
