how can you know without seeing orig? |
He lit candles that weren't originally lit, using PS. Don't need to see the original to know the Advanced Editing rules were obviously broken. |
You've already changed the description from what Shannon said, without seeing the original. Soon, you'll be accusing him of burning down the Reichstag. |
Please. So dramatic, Don.
In Manics original post " . In this case, lighting effects were added to the mirrored candles in post-processing to make them appear to be lit and glowing " | Like I said, you changed the wording, added the assumption that they weren't lit in the first place, etc. I would rather see the original. |

To me, the flames on all of the candles in the mirror look identical to one another, almost as if they were cloned in to place. But, I could be wrong. |

How easily you generalize. Don't remember making him an idol. |

*poking thread with 10-ft pole* OK, not going there...though I did express concern in a PM to another DPCer that maybe he'd gotten a little over-happy with the cloning tool in removing his face and hand. That was before I read his notes and I always thought so long as it was your own artwork you were f***ing with, all was OK. Though creating flames on unlit candles...yeah...sorry, Christophe :-(
And holy ring-around-the-collar, Batman! Bahaahahahaaaaa...
*ducking now*

Sure... in Expert Editing. This was Advanced, and if you can't clone all that out in Photoshop, then it would hardly make sense to allow this same thing with artwork. |

I have no opinion, except to say, even without flaming wings, the vampire dentistry shot was growing on me. |

The candles were already lit. Why in the world would I print out unlit candles? As I said in the description of my entry, the real reflected image was first photographed with everything consistent, which includes flames obviously.
What I did is I made the flames much brighter, because of course, printed flames do not generate light like real ones. The "added feature" is about the (subtle) glow around them, that was not visible on the print. |

Well I think the only honorable thing you can do is to pack up and box all your wonderful, ribbon-winning equipment, I'll be there in the morning to take it off your hands.
But just so that we understand one another, if I do not jump into first place in the ribbons-race within, oh say three weeks to be reasonable, you'll be hearing from my attorney.

Sorry to hear about this Christophe. It's a great image with tremendious vision and effort put into it.
Maybe next time it would be safer to just hire a real vampire; I'm sure you can find some in Paris. :)

edit: maybe if you find one now you can commisserate over a nice chilled O- while you discuss payment for future shoots?

wow... I've added glow to candles. And I've fixed blurry things like on Lydia's distorted... Maybe I've just done it more subtly or something. But these are seeming a little odd to me. Would Christophe's image have been at all able to get the same by just playing with the exposure, contrast, brightness in RAW? Candles do seem to glow more and less when you play with the exposure. Though it's easier just to put a yellow circular gradient on it. |
