I did not get 1 comment in the challenge so I was hoping I could get some now.

I thought it would do much better but that is the norm unfortunatly for me.

The smoke is not the subject of the photo; the fire is. Also, the smoke is showing signs of having been underexposed by quite a bit and them brought up. This is what has caused the smoke to loose its texture in many places. So, while it technically meets the challenge, the smoke is not providing an interesting aspect to the composition.

I can't help but wonder if it would have been better to have exposed for the smoke, and framed the shot above the top edge of the fire. With a fire of that size, there were likely many interesting swirls and plumes within the smoke.

In case your interested, I have not had time to vote of comment on the challenges in a while, but I would not have scored this particularly high -- perhaps a 4 or 5.

Thanks for your comment David.

I found this shot very difficult to get. When the exposure was right for the flame the smoke would disappear and when right for the smoke the flame would be blown out.

I also had trouble with the focus because of distance and it was dark apart from the fire.

I'd love to get some more comments!
