If a voter asks a specific question while the challenge is in voting is it okay or forbidden to answer that question by pm?

I don't think there is any rule specifically against it but I would wait until after the challenge. That will insure there is no chance of a response influencing the vote.

Thanks Mark. I'll do that, or just explain something in my notes - not that they will necessarily be read.

When I was first here, I didn't respond to anything regarding voting before voting ended.

Now, I know that some folks have questions or comments. I LOVE to get them... (even if most are negative).

I've usually already voted (and shown them my vote), and I NEVER change my vote because of a PM.

I explain that... and... if I'm wrong, then I tell them so... and say that I'll do better in the future.

I don't mind PMs during voting.

LydiaToo and I have the same philosophy.

If a voter asked a specific question, I would probably answer.

If it is more of a rhetorical comment like, "What were you thinking?" Then I might just answer in my comments at the end of the challenge, but would not reply via PM.

I have had conversations in PM with other members whom PM me or I did them during the challenges.. always fun convos.... the votes nor the comments changed but it was really neat having those conversations and I learned a lot from other DPC members when they do reach out to me :-)) No way, do the votes or comments change but its nice and I think it gives an awesome perspective, respect and a new outlook on things. I like knowing the comments I make, may be very vague cause I am still learning things myself, but sometimes I ask questions during my comments and they will answer me most times.. but a few have waited till the challenges are over. Either way, its great feedback and whatever is most comfortable for that person is fine with me :-))

I've had similar experiences.

I wouldn't hesitate to answer, as long as you don't ask anyone to change their vote. I'm not suggesting you would, just trying to be clear.

Okay, thanks everyone. I will answer the question, make it clear I'm not fishing for a change in vote (actually the person told me what vote was given, and I'm happy with it). I'll also point out this thread.

i've been on both sides of it, and sometimes it's been worthwhile to do.
recently my ass-hat-ed-ness was pointed out to me when i was overly critical due to sunset being at the same time as silhouette, and there were people who shot for sunset before silhouette was even announced. i shouldn't have voted based on what else was coming down the pipe, and it wasn't requested of me in the pm to change anything, but it was pointed out that there were still several days before silhouette was announced, during which time people may have planned and shot an entry which they had no reason to have to reshoot just because langdon setup the challenges in that order.

It depends on who it is. If it is someone I know well enough and I know they won't be offended nor change their vote, I may answer during the challenge. In fact, I just got a comment like that this morning.
