First let me say thanks for the 4 10s!! I was tickled and really appreciated it. My next question is for those rating 1,2,3. I didn't receive any negative comments. I am just wondering what would be so wrong to deserve 1,2,3? Any ideas?

Nothing...some people just give low scores for no reason. Maybe it makes them feel better about their crappy photos. :)

I'm sorry I can't help... I gave you a 9 and I really loved your photo.
I think the colors were amazing, the mirror was definetly evident and I felt like a warm and fun summer looking at your picture |

I gave it a 6, because the upper left corner seemed out of synch with the rest of the photo.. but I don't know if that's negative or not. It *mostly* got a 6 out of me from going back over and adjusting scores, as I felt it just wasn't in the class of the 7s, 8s, and 9s I gave :)
I really liked it for it's uniqueness though.

I can't think of anything really negative about this image. I love the lines and the idea and how the lines contrast with the round mirror. I gave it a 7, which is the score I give to quality photos that don't wow me. So it's a fine photo with lots of fresh and new ideas going for it.
To improve it . . . I'm not sure. First, check the background. Once the table ends, you've got that slit of space with nothing adding to the photo but negative space. Fiddle around with various points of view and angles to see if there might be something a bit more dramatic. You might also fiddle around with various lighting schemes to see if you can eek more mood out of the shot.
Again, a well done image, IMO. Keep Shooting!

I gave you a 6 as I thought it was a good photo, its probably a bit to busy and the mirror really did not play a part in the photo except for sitting on the table.
I think if there was a focal point in the mirror, something of interest it would have done better.

I gave it a 4.
I coulnd't find anything that interested me in the image. It's quite busy and there is no real subject/storyline or 'idea' behind the image that I could see. What was 'purpose' with this photo? What inspired you to do it?
If your answer is: "Because I needed a mirror photo for the challenge", then you may want to think about some things. It meets the challenge because there is a mirror in the photo. What are the other good characteristics of the image?
I just couldn't connect with it in any way. The people who have already commented here like the elements of this photo that I don't like, which is normal. People like different things. People look for different things in a photo. The things I look for don't exist.

Well, I guess I would say that I was going for something abstract, bright, and whimsical that I could use to decorate my bathroom wall. I guess I can understand how someone who looks for deep meaning in photography could find it lacking in that respect. Thanks for sharing your view. |

I didn't score this to place in the top ten. But I don't think there is anything wrong with it. It's a good bathroom pic. I have seen worse hanging in peoples houses. No real AW! factor...but great colours.

well, since you asked. ;)
It is very busy, with colors that don't seem to follow any kind of pattern or rhythm -- and what rhythm is there is broken by the triangle in the upper left. I can understand wanting to have some lines going in a different direction, but having them in the mirror's reflection instead of beside it would have placed more emphasis on the mirror. As it stands there is no real purpose for the mirror to be there other than to meet the challenge (which isn't a bad reason, just not particularly good either).
I didn't have time to vote, but I would not have scored it low. It meets the challenge and clearly represents a well performed execution of your visualization. I would likely have placed it slightly better than maderate -- a 6 or 7 perhaps.

I did not vote or comment.
yes, it is very busy, but I like it.
The whole thing seems to fit well together, it makes me think of the sixties (not that I have actively experienced the hippy period, I have just heard about it), the patterns and the colors are so busy and bright that it becomes overwhelming. A bit of halicunatic substance and you have a happy trip (p.s. I am not promoting or suggesting you should. I am just making the link to the sixties). If I would have seen something like this on the wall of a museum of modern art, I would not have been surprised.

I thought it was a great photo, and a great idea. The only thing I didn't like about it was the upper left corner, but I'm not sure what I'd do differently. Also, I loved the riot of color. Good job. 6. |

I don't think it deserves any 1, 2, or 3's... should be all 5's or up. |

I agree with John. Too busy...boring...I have no reason to want to score it high (but probably a 5). The colors are good and it's nice and sharp which is why it would even be a 5 for me instead of a 4. I'd like to see a more interesting crop or composition to give it some "umph." Right now it just looks like a mirror laying on a spripped table cloth.

I gave it a 4.
The photo just didn't interest me much, I dislike the colors, and the light glaring was distracting to me. It wasn't a technically really bad photo, so i didn't give a 1 2 or 3, but for me to rate a photo 5 or higher it has to appeal to me, and this photo didn't really. |

There is nothing wrong with your photo, I like you used the stark contrast between straight lines and the round mirror. I too am dissapointed in the 1's, 2's and 3's that are being dished out on this site with no explaination to help improve your photography. I am that dissapointed in lack of feedback that I have stopped entering challenges and I am posting my photo's to another site that is giving better feedback as to what my photo's need to improve. It's a shame that people can't take the time to explain why they think some photo's need to be voted down. I'm not the greatest photographer but I would like to learn more and I feel that some people on this site are not being fair (helpful) to others by voting them down without explaination. When you look at the wining photo's, There are usually many comments, and they deserve to be complimented but what about the photos that really need some help or encouragement, not many comments at all.
Don't let them get you down your work is improving all the time.
Cheers, |

I liked it and scored it well. I thought it was creative, and had it's own artistic flare. |
