LUCKY LUCKY YOU, Donna! My dad and I drove for 45 minutes and walked a mile and a half to the site of the Plano Balloon Festival last night, only for it to be "too windy" and none of the balloons were able to take off. I was so disappointed. It's great to see your shots, though! Glad you got to experience it!

Yeah, I know Lori...it was sad that they didn't launch last night, but I had a blast being there and taking pictures anyway. Here's what I came up with throughout the day and evening. Thanks to crabappl3 and gordon for letting a total amateur tag along and hang out with them... I can't wait to see what they got because it will be a whole lot better than mine! :o) |

Laurie, those are great! Did y'all have passes to get into the balloon area, and if so, how did you obtain those? I so wish I had known y'all were going to be there, I would have loved to have met you! I had to leave before sundown (allergies SUCK), and I was wondering what the balloon glow was, so it was nice to see those neat images you posted... :) I hope y'all had fun!!

Lauri, great pics. I really liked the glow shots you got. I really like #12 on the second page. The one here in St. Louis was just too crowded for me to set-up my tripod during the glow, but I did get one good shot. Oh, and for Lori, I don't know about the one in Texas but here they just about anyone with a camera on the field and for the glow you can get right up to the basket, talk to the pilots, and feel the heat from the flames. Got so hot when I took this one , I almost thought my camera was gonna melt (body is plastic). This was my best shot from the glow.
And, ohh, I can't wait to what crabappl3 and Gordon did. There stuff is always great! |

The very first stock photo I EVER sold was a baloon photo. It was purchased for a full two page spread. I ended up selling that one photo over 15 times.
When I first trecked out to the balloon race, I was thinking to myself
You are so silly, you will NEVER sell a baloon pic. There must be thousands of photographers taking great photos.
Less than a month later I had to eat those words. Several years later and over a dozen sales ... I made a feast with those words. Too funny.
My motto now is ... if I like it, I shoot it.
