His stuff is quite boring IMHO!

Nothing can be boring if you consider when it's been taken. When you see those colors together you immediately think of him and this is one of the reasons which make him great.

I had hoped that this thread would help me out, but not yet......

Yes, I can see how it possible to take a Mondrian-style photo, but for the life of me, I still can not see how he is "particularly suited to photographic interpretation".

Really? :)

At the risk of shameless self-promotion, this picture which could probably work in the present challenge, was taken out of the window of an apartment in which I had just installed, or was in the process of installing, bookshelves whose lines were taken from something by Mondrian. Why I don't have photos of the shelves themselves, is anybody's guess, but there we are...

Me, too. The examples we have seen are all photographs of artistic expression with the subject. The photograph itself is not by nature Mondrian-style.

And I don't see how we can do this with Advanced rules. [sigh]

Nothing in the challenge description or title says anything about Mondrian-style. Thus, I see nothing wrong with any of the examples posted.

What he said... Here's the challenge description: "Piet Mondrian is an artist particularly suited to photographic interpretation. Here are some examples:Mondrian"

"Photographic Interpretation" means "If you made it with a camera and it floats your boat, Mondrianiquely speaking, then post it on up!"

Me either. I particularly like hajeka's cake. And that bike is awesome. And the living art of the Mondrian model. All excellent.

I'm going with Bear's idea. Looking for something that will float my little boat.

I agree. I used the expression "in the style of" in my earlier post as one of caution: many of the examples that turn up when you do an image search on "Mondrian" are not his work.

Mondrian lines, check
Mondrian colors, no check

My feeling is the majority are going to look for straight lines and bold primary colors. While all the discussion of the rest of his work is true, when you say "Mondrian" the mind goes initially to what the majority would think

that's quite a manifesto.

what is "the mind"? Is that race consciousness? Or do you mean every individual brain?
