What was wrong with my shot (apart from rotating it 90 degrees)? Please be brutaly honest if you have to...
I really liked this shot and thought it would do better. And my average commenter score was a 7.5 so I feel a few people appreciated it. Or maybe my 'taste' is so out of mainstream.
I want to get better, so please help me! Print it out, rip it up and spit on it if you have to but pls tell me what went wrong or what I could have done better. Thanks!

Sorry - I gave it a 10 and commented that it was a piece of art. So I am as confused as you! lol Seriously, I really think it is a masterful piece.

Edit: Please also remember that, yes, not all things are mainstream. Your average is very high, and I wouldn't be upset really if I were you.

Hi Nico

Ok honesty.. the composition is quite distracting to me. The bottle is just kinda hanging there and it makes me want to push it down so it sets on the table or whatever is under it. A bit like.. I can't just enjoy it and walk away because it feels unfinished.. not in its final resting place.

I like the black and white and the water drops add interest.

This probably makes no sense but you asked for honesty :)

I find the blown light on the right to be very distracting and unbalance the entire composition. It is just too overpowering for a simple subject such as this.

hey Nico: the image is very nice but it does have an ambiguous riddle which the viewer has a hard time is resolving. Is it interesting ?.. Very much so and the image borders on the abstract. It is a very good effort and a worthy image. You must remember that the average viewing time given to an image is very small and the quicker they can reconcile the contents the better the marks. Take my word, it is a very attractive study and these ideas always lead to another idea for the future.

I gave it a six because of the composition. It REALLY needs to be roted IMO. It hurts my neck evertime I look. I really like the shot overall, but the rotate thing. That is why I scored it lower than it's worth.

Mine got Mullered too I thought it would score higher than a 5.5 to be honest but that is how it goes sometimes. Just because I like it doesnt mean it will score highly, I think also it adds to the fun of this site.

This is my second best ever so I am still happy :)

I'd just like to leave a warm thankyou to the 7 people that gave my photo a 1 and the 6 people that gave it a 2. It would be damn nice if they left some bloody feedback as to why they though it deserved to be voted so low. I know it's not the best photo but for heavens sake what the hell can you improve when you don't get any feed back on low votes. Thanks to the voters that did leave feed back I'll be taking their comments into concideration.
As for the others I find their lack of feedback inconciderate and bloody rude.
I've had enough ;-(

This was the first challenge I participated in and I was really happy with the results I got.

I only hope I can do as well in the next challenge.

Nico, I agree with Faye. Although I rated the image a 7, I had problems reading it. I, too, rotated it and began to understand it, but I think you ended up in that "Never, Never Land" in between abstract and perfect reality where most minds can't handle it. By the way, doesn't that bumble been in the last post of this thread look really great in hindsight? It really glows with that "Golden". Anyway, Nico - it's still a really nice image. I'd keep playing with it. Put it up on a board, see what you think, make a few changes, put that up, and after a few weeks of repetitive viewing and modifying, lets see what you get.
