Does anyone have any idea/trick? basically I want to take a shot in a day and then somehow convert to night shot and it would look more like shot taken in night. This thought came when I saw a video where they shoot the video in day (they showed how did they do) and in post production they convert it to night (they didn't show how) :)

Basically increased contrast, switch tones towards blue and desaturate some and add some glow, then reduce exposure. Nik Color Efex Pro has a filter called "midnight" that works pretty well.

Contre jour shots can make it very easy.

I doubt this will help, but it should be entertaining. Day for Night

Robert perfectly explained it. This one could help - I guess.

Also my first thought when I saw the thread title ... :-)

Ditto what Bear said ... I have a few I've done here which mostly follow those steps ...

just wondering if we have challenge that would it be expert challenge I guess even though we are not playing or manipulating any part of image but we are changing the output result. What do you think?

Do you mean only working on colors? There should be an extra rule to verify if the image is taken during daytime.

I took this picture several years ago when I was in high school. It was taken in the middle of the day and in color, but my photography teacher helped me make it look like night. I was shocked at how much better it looked after he helped me with it. If I can remember all the steps that I took to get to this, I will let you know.. I think a lot of it is just playing around with settings during PP though!

Good luck! It should be fun.
