I ran into someone today who works for the area newspaper. He told me I should email the editor some copies of todays shots. I did and he sent it to the chief photographer who emailed me back and said that he is interested and wants to buy. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. First Sell. I told him that this was an excellent 'foot in the door' for me and as a sign of good faith the first image would be free, but I wanted to be credited. I figured he would definitely use it if it was free, but if I said too high a price that he would pass. He thanked me for the image and said that he would be calling me soon for some freelance work, probably sports related. I have numerous questions. How much do I charge for images? Anyone have links that can help me get started with all this. Does anyone do freelance? Anyone photograph for a newspaper?

Most newspapers already have a set price per assignment for their stringers. My newspaper pays $35 per assignment. Might just want to ask them what their normal fee is.

Just a wild guess. They probably have fee schedules for rates. You might want to ask them what they pay.
