Yes, let's just ignore the elephant in the room. If we pretend nothing's wrong, all will be well. |
I neither suggesting ignoring anything nor pretending "nothing is wrong" -- merely that IMO the current strategy of repeated condemnation doesn't help resolve matters.

I don't think I'm "defending" it, but I am suggesting that the issue has been communicated to whatever extent we can, and that I have confidence that (eventually) everything will be worked out and "made right" as far as any membership payments are concerned, and that continuing to harp on the experience only intensifies personal feelings and negatively affects the overall mood here, which I find markedly discouraging.
If DPC was really the cash cow some people imply I don't think the man would have to have a "day job" ... I don't know why no action's been taken as yet; for all I know Langdon's in the hospital or been kidnapped by Somali pirates on his round-the-world cruise ...
Lastly, I'm not going to lock this (or any) thread unless it veers completely off-topic or people start violating the Forum Rules ...

Does this challenge need a second to get put on the board? I'd actually participate in the challenge!
Edit to add.
Just make it a members challenge, and do it before my membership runs out next month. As I won't be renewing.

I'm all for trying the carrot before getting out the stick, but how many years has the neglect of DPC been going on? If anything, the decline is accelerating. How many promises of site improvements have been broken? What other options have NOT been tried? What do you suggest as a positive alternative that hasn't been done 10x over? Please let us know. |

If the person paid $50, then they need to get the membership. Period.
Once fees were accepted, a contract was formed. Being busy, living life, all that does not matter. Service must be rendered or fees refunded. To fail to perform, could leave the responsible party with legal liabilities.
We call ourselves members. But there is no "club". We are customers, pure and simple. This business, like all others, are bound by contract law of the state having jurisdiction over the business.
I am not suggesting that Langson is living the good life, or over compensated. A lot of struggling small businesses have problems, but problems not rectified, can mean the end of the business. |

Wow, kirbic, with all the great examples available on this site, one would think you'd know the definition of tasteless by now. This thread doesn't even come close. |

When I consider the interaction between all the players in this venue, the assistance provided to those in need, the genuine camaraderie that prevails and the truly wonderful people that I have met at GTG throughout North America and abroad, I do honestly consider myself a tad more than a mere customer.
The other participants are almost akin to family.

You are sounding like a politician. It's not OUR money. I t's Langton's. |
Hey kirbic, that didn't come out right. I agree with you 100%. |

Ray,
I believe you are muddling the issue. If you go bowling... You may decide to join a league and compete. Other bowlers may help you with your game, and you may return the favor. However, you are still a customer of the bowling alley. If you pay in advance at the desk for your games, and shoe rental, you most reasonably expect them to turn the lane on, and hand you a pair shoes.
Please understand, I am not campaigning for anyone to quit DPC. I am not quitting. My 25 bucks is in the bucket.
I want the site to continue. However, if the OP spent $50, then the OP is OWED 2 years of membership, or a refund. Simple as that.
If I had paid via credit card, and it happened to me, and there was NO response. I would dispute the bill because goods were not delivered. If I paid through PayPal, I would file a complaint through them.
I'm more than willing to give the benefit of the doubt. But it seems odd, that nobody seems to be able to resolve the situation. Either DPC received the money, and needs to make it right NOW, or they did not receive the money and need to let the OP know so it can be tracked down. |
