Here are some photos that the one I submitted in the Framing challenge was chosen from, I'm not sure I picked the right one, what do you think?

This was what I submitted in the challenge:

In the end I chose between this and "SCREAM!", now I find the other three not worse either.

Any thoughts?

IMO you did a good choice. I really thought it would have finished in the top 10

Yes, good choice. SCREAM wold have been the worst choice, I think.

It did ok, 56th and 82%. I was hoping for a little better result though, hoping for 6. Some folks didn't like my levels work with it, they wanted details in the paper and suggested a different aparture settings, but in the original there is some details, I liked it better like this. I can understand the comments on the lack of focus on the eye.
But as always (when getting 1 and 2), I can't understand why 10 people gave it 1 and 2!!! Maybe they didn't see it fitting the challenge, now that would be strange, maybe some people thought the framing should be 4 straight-lined sides.

Thanks, I feel a little better not choosing SCREAM.

Hmmm... I find it also very hard to decide between what you submitted eventually and the scream...
Personally, I find the scream a bit more interesting. Well, I just found myself staring at it longer. It made me giggle (although I don't think it should've...) and it was more original.
But I don't think I would score it higher then your submission in the challenge.
In any case they are both brilliant.

The eye I liked much less. The first one - looking down - IMO is better then the other, but none had made me wanna stay for more, although technically they both are great.

I picked the best shot, all very good but the one you picked was superb.

I gave your entry a high mark, and also thought it would place much higher. It was very original, and wonderfully done.. but it goes to show that DPC is about as predictable as my grandmother's next bowel movement. (haha.. ha. ouch).

I think you made a great choice, but I also like "The Scream" a lot!
I think I'll have to add the scream one to my favorites now too.. darned you :) (Your entry is already there.)

Anyway, great work, can't wait to see more from you :)

The first one is, for me, the best. There was a post a while back by scalvert(?) where it was mentioned that "the idea" was the thing that made photos win. This is an excellent idea. With that said, I keep seeing the first one as being incomplete. Imagine using the direction the eye is looking in and the empty white space in the lower left. Can you think of something you could have included there to cause this picture to have a story? What would a ladybug look like there? Or maybe a fist? What about one of those toy train people hanging onto a piece of ripped paper?
Anyway. It is a good picture that I like just the way it is and it would make a good stock photo because it can be altered in so many ways.

There are truly different opinions about this, thanks guys, and Artyste, you must be a fan of Icelandic photographers, 4 of your 12 favourite photos are from 3 Icelanders! Thanks! :-D

Any other thoughts on this, which photo would you have picked for the framing challenge?

I think one would have done as well as the next. Some people would have lowered their vote, but others would have raised it. One thing I've learned in the last few weeks since I joined Dpchallenge is this, My vision is not always seen, but it is always viewed. So you have to think, are you entering to be liked, or to show the world who you are? I say this because I don't care that I havn't gotten above a 5.5, or that my last two entries did under 5.0

In my honest opinion there are alot of photos that win challenges that are not worthy, but the mass opinion is different of mine. So think about that when you enter, are you entering what you like? Or, are you entering what you think the masses will like because alot of the time it's two different things.

Thanks, I have been doing that mostly, but I have also posted photos that I don't really like very much, but I was just interested to see what people thought of it. Now I posted a photo in the backlighting challenge, I personally like it, but I predicted it would maybe score as my personal lowest, I really didn't care, but now I think it will definately not be my personal lowest. I find it very interesting to see what the mass opinion is here on DPC. Also it has very much to say how many photos are in a challenge, if there are many that have submitted (as it is now with backlighting), then it's better to have a very simple photo that has no doubt about if it fits in the challenge or not when you look at it for a second, better, if you want higher score that is. I decided to enter my photo although I didn't expect it to get very high because I think people will have to look at it for a while to like it better.

With my outtakes from framing, I wasn't sure before I submitted it if I liked it better than the others, it's because of that I wanted people's opinions about which they think is the best one.
