I saw that there were questions about this challenge in another thread, I thought it might be good to start a thread and ask for some examples. I took these about a week ago, wish I could enter the first one :)
I would assume this fits the challenge since there are players from two Opposing teams and there is Action?
These wouldn't fit the challenge because in the 1st one the umpires are not players and there is only one team in the 2nd one, right?

The quick answer IMHO,
1. Maybe
2. Yes
Edit had the numbers wrong

Well.. I see that debates are raging on this.. but my take on it is simple. I'll break it down:
The title: Team Sports Action.
to me, this means photographing an aspect of a team sport.. but also including action. This means that something has to be *happening*.. so static shots of someone standing around, or of equipment set up as a still-life.. aren't exactly following suit.
"team sport" is a contest between a group of players on one team simultaneously competing with a group of players on the other team. Your challenge: capture the action of a team sport! (For clarity, your photo does not need to contain the entire team or even multiple people, the sport you are photographing just needs to be a team sport!)
The first sentence is easy. I don't think I need to elaborate. Most people get it. You do I'm sure :)
The second sentence: capture the action. Action. So there must be something *going on*. :) Obviously, studio set-ups (unless very elaborate and showing someone doing something) aren't going to be very effective here.. but with enough open-mindedness and creativity, they *could* work.
The third sentence in brackets: Doesn't have to be multiple people or an entire team.. That means a single person is eligible, or even a single team. (you don't have to show the opposition). Simple enough.
So.. the key here is really to show the action of a team sport in some aspect. A player going to kick a ball. A person being thrown out at a plate.. or diving to catch a ball.. even someone being animated on the team bench (all part of the action).. are all examples.
If you want to capture equipment only.. examples would include a football going through the uprights.. a puck bulging out the net after just scoring.. that sort of thing.
Anyway, that's my take on it.
So get out there and hit your little league games.. or the local soccer fields.. or get a ticket to a high school/college football game.. anything, get creative, have fun, and let the photography begin :)

I wasn't going to enter this one.. but I've thought about it, and it'll really give me a chance to test out the S7000's continuous shooting modes and higher shutter speeds and stuff.. Let me get to learn the camera a little more while having some fun.
Now I just have to go find some sporting events that'll let me hang out and shoot them :)

No, that`s way too popular :)
...but since you`re interested, I`m going to let you in on it...it`s "whirling the haggis"..fabulous sport, they`re a bit tricky to grip as they only have three legs but once you finish
twirling them..you just dip them in your porridge and "down the hatch".
Sport and breakfast in one !
I`ll try not to capture the final few seconds of the contest, out of respect for the squeamish. :)

And this kind of thing actually falls under the "Team Sport" category? Do you really have 2 or more people in a team throwing haggis around competing with 2 or more people on another team?
Damn man.. Scots are WEIRD :)

The reason it qualifies as a team sport is that there`s usually somebody trying to take a bite out of your leg as you whirl the haggis.
That`s purely to add a degree of difficulty to the contest..but it also serves the purpose of whetting your appetite for the Haggisfest at the end :)
