What is this nesting in my shed...some sort of insect from the size of it...paper wasp? If I knock it down, will they attack or does it contain larvae?

Mud Dauber wasp is my guess. I have never taken one down, but the maintenance crew at my apartment just scrapes them off when the turn up. I don't think they attack. Maybe wait until the colder hours when they're less active?

Get some wasp spray and spray it. Wait a day then scrape it off. If you spray the perimeter of the area most wasps and mud daubers will not build a nest for about 6 months.

Yeah looks like a dirt dauber. They eat spiders...The nest will be full of spiders that are stunned....They are fairly harmless

The remaining question is whether or not mom is in the nest, or just eggs? From the pic it looks like something big inside.
