I LOVE working on my school's yearbook. I wrote my entrance essay to my college and to their honors program about it. I've tried to contact the editor since last May (?) to see if there was some way to get on staff once school started. Well, school started, I still hadn't been able to make contact with them, so I went into the office area too see if they were there...3 times...I hate talking on the phone so I wanted to talk to them in person. One time I left my name, number, and e-mail address for them and got their number. They of course couldn't bother to contact me.

So, I called yesterday because, after the first week of classes, I could finally think straight enough to finish up all of the housekeeping things I had left. I left a message saying that I'd been on staff for the past 4 years and editor for the last 2.

I get a message this morning saying that: "We just filled our last position yesterday and it was only for 2 hours a week, probably not what you were looking for." Holy frekin crap...I could care less if I'm even PAID! $ while working on a yearbook is just extra for me... I mean, I TRIED to contact them! They make it so bloody hard, you wouldn't even know the yearbook existed if you didn't see it in the admissions office and the library. There's no way to e-mail them, leave a physical message, or find the number to call! I mean, my gosh, I left my number and they didn't contact me, so when I didn't call I lost out. *growls* No one said it was an actual job, just that you "might" get paid for it...I mean, barely anyone even knew where the place was for me to go!!! HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT YOU HAD TO APPLY?????????

Bah...

Hey. Maybe some people from the upper classes had already been alloted the jobs. If you find out where they all hang out, start talking with them and tagging along. Pretty soon you will become a familiar face and they will think of you when there is an opening. Once you get to know them, ask if there are any little things you can do.
Sorry about you not getting a job with them.
