Okay not sure if this is feasible, but one of the things I've done over the past few challenges is title my image before it's even shot. That presents a challenge in and of itself. It forces you to see more of the vision and final product BEFORE you start shooting. It doesn't allow you the escape of coming up with an image, then slapping a title that fits. It's quite challenging, but I can't help but feel like my past few entries have developed more of an artistic meaning and focus.

So... I'm not sure if this could be done... but... Challenge: You have one week to submit your title for your image... Then... the following week, you have to go and shoot your image to meet your title for the challenge. Obviously, the title would be submitted to DPChallenge as a submission but not publicly in the forums.

I would personally like to see this run as a Fine Art or stylistic type challenge. The overall focus of the challenge is to find a deeper meaning to your photography. Develop a vision, title it, then make that vision a reality with your camera. :) Advanced editing... Thoughts???

definitely a true challenge, and definitely would be a first. I like the idea.

I like the idea as well. Would be very cool to be able to lock your title in place before shooting.

great idea but probably a lot of programming

I don't even want to think about it.

Perhaps a set of twenty or so titles could be posted first, from which participants choose one.

That would seem limiting to me. Trying to shoot for someone else's title is not the same as what is being proposed here. You are coming up with a title with an idea already in your head - then shooting for it.

I know this is a radical idea, but we could just trust people to do it that way.

you could have people upload the title to their workshop before the challenge starts. Good luck explaining that to DPCers.

Easily done, in one of two ways.

a) Like PH said, trust the photogs, and nothing else changes. I'm for this one.

b) If you want to check up on all an sundry, in a normally scheduled [ie 7 days] challenge, there will have to be a short name submission period followed by a long image submission period. So, just open a speed challenge the first day of the challenge week. 24 hours to submit your name. No image required, put your ugliest selfportrait/homeview image there. Then have another normal 6 day challenge, where you submit your image and the same name as sent in with the speed challenge. So two sets of info, one only has the name, as honour roll for the other.
