so, is there a concensus that this is a free study with the caveat that there should be a "story" embedded it in?

or, are we looking to see something more akin to "street" photography with people interacting/people showing emotion/people otherwise conveying a story?

i'm confused!

You again. It's not a free study. Taking an advertising photo of a bottle of beer in a stream DNMC, IMHO. If you read the description, Doc is not requiring a story. He's requiring a heart.

One of the fun things about DPC is that all your questions will be answered in due time...
That due time being the moment the voters start voting.
:)

I'm fully convinced that you know what to do. You just don't know that you know. Or you're a ballbuster. Or both.

I'm in. Don't know if it has heart. Or tells a story. Or....

Unfortunately I think the answer will only be fully revealed when the voters are finished voting.

I thought so at first too honestly.

Subsequently, I've come to the conclusion that this challenge is really hard to sum up in words. Maybe a 'quick' read through of this will reveal something further. Peter inspires me in a powerful way, and I think that's what I'm going to try to capture.

For you it may be something different... Just ask yourself - who and what is Peter Venter to me? Then create an image that speaks to that.

The challenge title, I think, will prove to be a distraction, but photos that tell stories are always good anyway. :)

Although, it's not even really all about Peter either - in many ways, I think this is as much about you as it is about Peter isn't it? What inspires you? What do you have to offer that is unique and special? ....

In the end, I honestly can't imagine a harder challenge to define, but I think the images with the right stuff will speak for themselves.

Then again, I'm probably massively wrong about everything except the fact that the right images will speak for themselves.

Really looking forward to this challenge and seeing what images people enter.

As far as telling a story I will use one of Peters own images as an example.

It may say nothing to you but to me it has many stories in it.

I will be in by midnight.

Totally out of style; a winner or a loser. For me, I captured something about the life we live; we must tell a story in our own arty way of life. We are the reference of what is happening now.

In my very humble opinion it is not a Free Study, it is ART, made by YOU, that tells the good bad sad etc etc of living life. The mistakes we make, the greatness of man, our sweet or sick society.

You, get out and go capture art. And share with us. Remember the Jury will decide who gets my LOMO. I will post it anywhere in the world and pay the postage. Art must be rewarded, and this one, I am humbled, is you sharing you, with me.

For the open record, I am having more tough days than good. Yesterday was scary. But guess who is fighting, who is out there trying to find something to capture. I am a winner, God knows, I am working so hard at being.

Your words are very encouraging....I'm sorry you had a bad day yesterday, I hope we can all cheer you up with our photo's.

I took mine on the weekend, I saw it out of the corner of my eye, it begged to be taken, camera ready I fired away 3 shots, I love those moments, and they can disappear in the twinkling of an eye.

I salute you my friend.

I have created something to share with you which I hope you love as much as I do.

Can't wait to see what this one delivers. Thanks for the inspiration Peter.

I hate to hear how badly things are going, but damn, I love it that you're still here, and still fighting to stay going.

Sorry to hear that you are having more tough days than good Peter:-( But good for you that you continue to live and not let the cancer confine/define you! Glad to hear that you went out to photograph something and will be participating:-)

I have mine in - the hope is that is resonates what I wish it too with the audience- only time will tell.

Since we are finally back home, I will be entering the challenge (actually, already submitted). :)
I think this is a wonderful challenge and look forward to seeing the entries.

It is very generous of you to give your LOMO away! Anyone would be luck to receive it.

And I know what it's like fighting a tough battle, as does Dallas, and the rest of our family. But you seem to have great spirits about you, and are not letting it drag you down.
Keep up the good attitude, and keep on fighting.
I truly believe we are never given anything in this life that God doesn't think we can handle. You are in inspiration to many, and a wonderful photographer.

Dallas wants me to watch a show with him, so I've got to cut this message short.

Cant wait to see the entries!
Good luck to everyone entering. :)

Sorry about the ratio of good days to bad, Peter, but at least you can still "see" the relatively good ones - of which tomorrow will be one, I hope.
I'm in. Story? Don't know. But the photo was conceived of and taken specifically for this challenge and I like it so all's good.

Best to you
