I've actually asked someone to report mine before just so that this workflow can be initiated and I can get the message shown (It was a Minimal challenge). |
Fyi- you don't automatically get the message, sc get to decide. I've often been deprived of it.
I'm pretty surprised at the high scores being reported for this challenge. Nothing looks illegal either. |

Thanks for that - I had no idea it was discretion based, it isn't just that it didn't happen in time for it to be done within the voting window? |

Is discretion. I'd asked directly. Seem to remember that, in addition to other reasons, they don't wish to encourage validation stamp-seeking. But I'm going back a few years. Feel free to ask them for a fresher answer ;-) |

If true, that's a shame. I believe all validation requests during voting should be moved to the top of the line and the "this was validated" or not should come as quickly as possible.
If the image is valid and voters were questioning it, they should see that it's legal.
If not, the image should be removed from voting as quickly as possible so that the poster doesn't get credit for any scores given (I believe they don't go away in the whole scheme of things).

Naw... A lot of times people question things that the SC knows better. When I first started, I didn't realize how people could selectively desaturate in basic. I knew you could get rid of certain colors, but it still would affect other colors. Now I realize there are other ways around it. Anyway, I questioned a photo. The SC knew better and didn't need to bother with the validation for the reason I asked. I assume there are many requests similar to this.
Anyway -- 10 comments!! wheee!!

Because that way I can feel free to vote as though you did follow the rules, and let site council sort it out, as the rules ask us to do.
I LOVE getting validation requests, it means I've made the viewer believe my image is so darn good it HAD to be cheating.
Sorry if it hurts your feelings, that's most certainly never the intent. |
I knew it... it was jealousy that prompted someone to request a validation for this gem. :O)

Dead serious... Imagine just how surprised I was when I got the request.
Nice to know that someone actually believed that this was an "outdoor" fixture. :O)

Ok, so no real surprise but I've been DQ'd
I can only imagine for using a texture layer and being that I can't add new elements. Frankly I think it's bluntly obvious it's a texture layer.
Thanks cutout for the 10
Thanks cory for the praise
Thanks sirashley for the 10
Thanks see for the praise
Thanks jmritzfor the praise
...and thanks neat, no it wasnt Cutout, twas I, but highest praise...
... But there you go. This is why I've come to hate these challenges. You get something as inspirational as the cutout challenge and the it's spoilt (IMHO) by over zealous application of rules.
I'm out, see ya

Wendy, no, that is a different scenario. Am sure only a fraction of DQ queries are followed up on. I was referring to full-blown validation procedure, submission and clearance, that does not result in a validation stamp on the entry. |

:(
Really wish you wouldn't go - I'm sorry you got DQ'd, and I apologize for hurting your feelings here - since I really enjoy you and your work, it'd be a shame for you to leave.
With that being said, is following the rules so terrible?

So tell me,are we allowed to use texture layers......? I assume that is why I was DQ'd, I cant see any other reason.
"You may not use ANY editing tool to create new image area, objects or features (such as lens flare or motion) that didn't already exist in your original capture."
I'm dying to see how my 10's have managed otherwise, maybe i'll learn something..... |

No -- texture layers are only legal in expert editing. |

Oh haven't been following this thread, so two DQ's now, hmmm, DOUG, great shot shame about that I thought everyone knew layers were illegal in Adv editing.
I have 12 comments, scored dropped a little, but still way too high for my image, hehe!
I am quite surprised how well it is doing, I nearly withdrew it one hour before the challenge started. Can't wait to see the front page though! Not even sure I'll be in the top ten though, loads of contenders.

I have a terrible feeling I'm not giving a ribbon to cutout in the cutout challenge. This could be the end of my art critic career. |
