Greetings...
Limited Edition Prints
I have released my first three limited edition prints which can be viewed at the above link. Each print is titled, numbered, and signed and printed with ultrachrome inks on archival matte paper.

I have sold a few of each of these in the local community but none online yet. I still have not managed to find the right 'outlet' for selling online. I need to do a survey... lol

If I may make a suggestion... I wouldn't list the price breakdown but instead, list one price and perhaps update you website to relect the prices of editions sold. Make sense? The way it is now might make someone think twice about paying $50 for something they will be able to get for less if they just wait.
Good luck!!! |

Maybe I'm thinking wrongly but you can purchase any of the prints at any time. If you want the first edition print then you pay the 50 dollars whether or not any of the other prints sold or not. The idea being that the first few prints are worth more than the others. Although with digital the value of limited prints isnt quite the same as they are near enough all the same quality. I guess with these you're just paying for the 'number' listed on the print. |

They are priced based on the number of the print, not by the order in which they are sold. The buyer can choose which number they wish to buy.

Aha... Not having dealt with limited edition prints before, I would not have guessed that one could specify which number to buy.
Would it help to explain that at your point of sale (pBase)?

I was referring to the buyer ordering the specific number. It's probably clear to everyone but me (in which case, ignore the dummy :-)), but I couldn't see that I could actually state which numbered print I want...

If you want to share, I am curious about your numbering/pricing/sales scheme. As previously stated, it seems as though one is merely paying for an arbitrary (lucky?) number, as opposed to a significant difference in the print based on either quality (sequence placement in print run) or availability (how many are left)? I'd like to know how you came up with this particular structure ...
However you price them, they look great. |

It's not uncommon in the world of limited editions.
Often prints are priced the same at the time of sale but as values evolve over time (in the secondary markets) the prints with lowest numbers achieve higher prices.
Whilst buyers know there's seldom a qualitative difference in any of the prints many feel that there is a certain cachet to the lower numbers of the edition.
All John is doing is recognising that trend in his original pricing.
Those who don't mind which number they get can opt for the lowest numbers and those who prefer lower numbers can spend more from the start.
Since there are more people who don't mind than do the lower priced ones will likely sell out first which also provides a natural price increase over time.

Yup... KV summed up my idea nicely there... The only reason I started doing a few of these is because of requests for them.
