I need help from the experts. I am trying to shoot a picture for the cover of a brochure. The customer makes chocolates and wants the picture to say "Chocolate" but wants this old family photo to be included to look like a table setting. I think it's ugly and takes away but that's what they want. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think it's ugly at all...but it appears to be a bit "hazy" or something...perhaps a tiny tad OOF. Have you adjusted the contrast or anything? Just curious. I don't mind the photo in the BG...gives it a nostalgic feel. :o)

| I dont think it looks too bad, it does give it a nostalgic feel, especially if that's what they are going for. Are they going to have text on it too? One thing I would suggest is to remove the white chocolate, it's far too bright! |

From a consumer's perspective...
Hm, perhaps try without the whole arrangement? Put the photo and the chocolates on a solid background. The try arranging the photo with some chocolates infront, around, next to... I don't know... It just seems so cluttered there that I don't think you want so many different types of chocolates when trying to include a photo, without it it's okay, but with it's hard.

I'm not a photography expert, but I agree with the previous comment from a consumer's perspective. Maybe you could try the shot set up without the box of chocolates behind the plate of chocolates, and move the photograph closer so it could be seen better? I also love the chocolate with the rose impression on it on it on the left-hand side - I think I would try to put it in a more prominent position, as I think it looks nostaglic as the photograph does. Again, no expert here, just trying to help. I do think you are on your way to a really good shot - good luck!

My concern is that it feels to cluttered. THere is so much chocolate that the viewer's eye is drawn to a whole bunch of places at once, giving the shot an unfomfortable feel. what you need is for one piece in praticular to draw the viewer's attention.
just my 2 cents

My thoughts:
a) Lighting is really flat. Put a low-intensity spot on the foreground chocolate.
b) Remove the plant
c) Get rid of the plate of nuts - or at least make it "level"

| I'll second the "cluttered" comment. I'd remove the oval bowl as well as the box. I too would either remove the white chocolate or move it to a much less prominent place. |
