Hmmm....they can be replaced, but grab your camera just in case :P
On a more serious note, thank god as of now miami is not on it's path, that's where my parents live. Best whishes for those of you in the path. You know, I used to think that it sucked to live in Miami because of the hurricanes, but now I live 15 miles from an ACTIVE volcano and we have earthquakes. When I lived in Maryland we had tornadoes....I guess you really just can't get away from more nature.

The same people that build them in Tornado Alley, California and other earthquake areas.

But I have to say the toughest one I ever helped design and build was in downtown Jersey City or was it the one in San Antonio, Texas where they had to jack hammer the ground just to plant a tree :)

Sheesh!
I finally heard from my family yesterday and they are all well.
They all rode it out in Sebastian, only 30 miles from the eye.
It's the worst one they have experienced in 20+ years.
The whole area is a distaster, power still out in many areas.

Now they may have to bear it again.
At least my Dad & Stepmothers' house is a fairly new build and rated to withstand 140 mph winds,
and is equipped with retractable metal window covers.

And all I have to worry about is earthquakes!

I'm just now feeling the effects of Frances. Central Pennsylvania is feeling it now. First by a front that went through raining Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and then the rements of Frances moved in. The downpours from Frances have flooded small streams and now I am waiting to hear from family nearby. A river that is at flood stage at 12 feet reached 16 feet over night and is not expected to crest til sometime around 1pm this afternoon between 20 and 22 feet. The last time this river was over the 16 feet mark was in 1972 when Hurricane Agnes went through.

All I have to say now about Ivan is...if you insist on following the same path as Charley and Frances and want to play havioc on everyone would you please hurry the H up and do it. If you are as slow moving as Frances and keep me from the Travis Tritt concert next week I'm gonna be pretty darn......

Ok, now that I had my selfish moment. Is there anyone along the east coast south of Pennsylvania who can walk outside and not hear the ground go squish under there feet? First there was Charley now Frances and all I can say is Ivan Mexico is waiting for you with open arms buddy!

I am heading to Florida tomorrow to help with recovery efforts. So, I'll miss ya all. Not sure if I'll have access to a computer or not. Will be shooting lots of photos. I'll be back in early October, I think. Van

Ergh, yet another hurricane? Good thing the DPCFanatics chatroom is still on the backup server, saves having to move it back and forth as these storms keep coming in...

Hi all! We made it through hurricane Frances. My community took a direct hit from Hurricane Frances. Now we're batten down the hatches again for Ivan.
We've had no power, no phone, no water, etc. for a week. It's been quite an experience. Our roads were completely flooded. We are in a state of emergency.
All around is is destruction, yet our home remained unscathed. We are blessed.
I've taken photos but have no way of uploading now. Soon I hope.
Believe me I know how fortunate we are. So many are less fortunate. I am ever mindful of people around the world who have so little. I am always careful of not wasting food, and water, and other resources. Daily I thank God for what I have, and ask him to point me to others in need, and use me to help them.

Anyway, now we are trying to assess whether or not to evacuate to a state further north.

Our government has made many provisions for us, and various relief organizations have assisted our citizens. It took a few days for us to receive ice, but yesterday we hit the mother load. THANK GOD!!! That is what I most yearned for. There are people supplying us with drinking water. We've also received food rations in the form of "MRE'S" That is "Meals Ready to Eat" each kit comes complete with a heat source. Amazing! Last night we had pot roast with cookies, crackers, cheese, spiced apples, etc.

Well...I hope you are all well. I'll try to get back to you all when I can.
Warm regards and hugs to you all. I really appreciate all the prayers.
