Inside or outside. Expert rules would allow at least focus stacking, HDR, pano, & triptych.

good idea if it was advanced. if you can't do it in advanced, you should look for another hobby |

How do you intend to create a triptych within the Advanced rules? |

For the record, focus stacking and HDR are legal in Advanced. |

Special rule allowing it ... special rules have allowed otherwise illegal editing before. |

I think not, multiple originals are not allowed in Advanced. So, if you're using multiple originals for HDR or focus stacking, you should probably stop. |

Special rules are silly & should be stopped. Why would you allow illegal editing? It confuses people & weakens the original rule. |

Multiple originals (up to ten) are allowed specifically for focus stacking and HDR -- however, the elements within the scene cannot change from frame to frame. A Special Rule (or Expert editing) would be required to use multiple originals containing different elements to form a triptych, or to stitch into a wider panoramic image than can normally be captured in a single frame with the available lens. |

not really, special rules allow allow normally illegal operation but still maintain the spirit of the ruleset.
you could specify multiple capture for panorama or triptych that are otherwise illegal, but you don't allow any of the other expert rules where folks could use create their own fantasy landscape. |

Providing it was under the advanced ruleset, obviously with the extra tritych rule, I would love this - ages since we had a triptych challenge. I would be really unhappy to see a standard of photography having the full gamut of 'expert' editing. There is a real danger that this site morphs into a digital art site, I feel. |

I do love triptychs, just would have no idea how to make one in Lightroom. Guess the Print panel somehow. |

there is a time and place for expert, i don't think this is one of those. |

If you don't have time to figure it out, you could always use the architectural detail to create your triptych...

Well this sucks. Didn't require expert imo, just a yellow flag. Pffft! |

I have to agree with what has been stated before - this absolutely needed only an extra rule :/ |

I disagree. Making it Expert pushes the allowances far past what you intended, and we'll end up with another challenge like Artificial Symmetry, where the essence of the challenge was blown to the side by the extra set of tools allowed.
A special rule doesn't add confusion; quite the opposite ΓΆ€” It specifically spells out what's expected and legal so there is no confusion or misinterpretation. |

Im trying to come up with something good...The architecture around here can be kindof boring....That might be because I see it every day

Umm... I cannot think of a single piece of photo worthy 'architecture' in my very small town.
\sarcasm Maybe I'll have to take advantage of the ridiculously over the top rule set and build something from scratch. \endsarcasm |

I recognize that Advanced is the norm. Not trying to upset that. I thought it would be fun to use Expert on this one because then the triptych could combine shots of 3 different buildings, taken on different days. You could replace a sky if you wanted to, or use Expert to deal with window reflections. Remove distracting elements. And so on. It's not strictly necessary but it would be fun, & should result in some interesting comps which would make voting more fun. And it would be fun to see what Christophe would make of this. C'mon! rise to the challenge, don't go to it kicking & screaming! |

That's the beauty of architectural "details" :-) Think door hardware, mortise-and-tenon joints in old barns, gotta be something interesting around if you narrow your focus a little... |
