Just a general kind of thank you to this wonderful community on a number of levels.
I'm about to be DG'd for my fourth place in Minimal Portraits for a stupid error. I know better, knew better, but got sloppy.
I rotated the image in my computer, and did not save it elsewhere first.......and reformatted my card.
The reason for the thank you on the heels of this?
You guys have helped me to become a pretty decent photographer, and to understand that this is supposed to be fun.
One of the things that makes me happiest is that I did *so* well in a Minimal challenge with a portrait of my beautiful daughter.
With what I've learned here I can shoot the most delightful images that I get to have for the rest of my life.
And to have y'all vote my effort at shooting her to a fourth place against the kind of competition here, well......I am humbled and pleased.
Thank you.

Aw Jeb -- Congrats on being able to do it! Sorry about the DQ. But nothing takes away that it was done and it came in 4th. :)
It happens. Minimal is unfortunate that way!

Sorry about your DQ, Jeb. Such a minor transgression, bummer timing with the reformatting. The original result still speaks for your achievement.

Even though you have reformatted have you tried recovery software? If you haven't shot too many pics since the reformat you may still may be able to recover.
eta: Great portrait, save the DQ!

The one DQ I had was a 5th in a free study that got DQ'd for a similar reason. It was a small bummer, but the fact that I was able to take the image in the first place was all because of what I learned from participating here, so my gratitude to DPC outweighed any disappointment I had. |

Damn Jeb, that sucks. That is a fantastic shot.
The same situation happened to me on the first blue I got. I rotated the image in iphoto not realizing that altered the image...and I had already reformatted my memory card, too. I was fortunate that the recovery software was able to get it back. Hopefully you will have similar luck. |

Your comments about this community are so true Jeb. I feel much the same as you.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you can get things sorted out with the SC. In any case, it's a beautiful image, so congrats! |

I hope you can recover it, Jeb!
How sweet you are to tell us such wonderful stuff when you have to be annoyed at yourself... *sigh*
