as a car charger for the Cannon dRebel batterie? If so, how much does it cost and how long does it take to charge? If not, WHY NOT?

If there's no such thing you can always get a power inverter plug it in to your car and plug the home charger into that. |

and a new car battery runs about $75

Radio Shack sells a universal charger that plugs into your car's cigarette lighter socket.
About $30. |

or you can get a DC-AC converter and run your laptop, camera, etc all off the one power strip.

If you're going the inverter route, be sure to get a smart inverter. They shut themself off when your battery gets to the point where it won't start the car. It's better to use it while the car is running, but doesn't hurt to use it while the car is off, as long as you periodically start the car to re-charge your car battery.
Also be sure to buy an inverter strong enough for your needs. For just the battery a 100 watt inverter should do the trick. if you want to run a laptop & printer also, you'll need about 400 watts. (Note, you probably shouldn't use the cig lighter jack for more then 200 watts)
