Well I guess it's the end of the line for this model and to me that's kind of sad. I'm still loving mine with about 75K on the shutter last time I checked and hope it continues to serve me for a long time.
End of the line for 5d Mark II

what exactly does that mean, that they just dont make them anymore?

Yep, apparently they quit producing them. Given how much more the Mark III replacement retail price was it seemed logical they would keep it around for a while and had they not released the 6D I expect they would still be making it. Still a great camera for anyone who has one and I'm sure parts will be available for many years to come.

Thank goodness for that, I'm about to order a replacement screen for the back of mine. I'll make a video when I replace it, should prove entertaining as I am not very mechanically inclined.

I just bought a refurbished 5D Mark II from Canon last month after my T2i broke -- they had them on sale for Black Friday at $1300. I hope it will last me a long, long time.

I hope and expect it will last you a very long time Mark :) I haven't had a single issue with mine in the 4+ years I have had it.

I am assuming it is the screen cover you are replacing and not the screen itself? Mine on the 5D still looks great, but I did replace one on my 30D and if the 5D is similar it's an easy thing to do. Just be sure to order a new adhesive decal along with the screen cover. And if you don't have a suction cup to remove it, some of that double sided foam tape stuck on something you can grasp and then stuck to one corner of the cover will help pull it off.
I see so many people using awkward covers for their covers that degrade the view, if only they knew how easy it is to replace those factory covers that cost no more than the thing they are covering it with...

I'm thinking this may support the used 5D2 price because the 5D3 is quite a bit more.

Well unless the 5D is different than the 30D regarding screen covers you need to order a new adhesive decal separately from the screen cover as they aren't bundled together. You can't just use the old adhesive, so make sure it is bundled with the cover or be sure to order it as well.

I got a new one for Christmas (I love my HUBBY!)... for $1529.

I'm happy. I don't need a III for that much more money.

I'd love more focal points, but not for that money.

I'm completely thrilled!

Mine is well salted, loaded with sensor dust, and glowing with a shabby shit chic paint job. Works perfect. I don't plan on replacing it until it is beyond repair. It has about 120k actuations over the last 4+ years. I hope it survives until somebody other than Leica puts out a FF digital rangefinder, if not it will be another 5DmkII. I have no need for the mkIII.

Ha! No danger here! (but thanks! LOL!)

I'm loving the combo... I am so thrilled I can't sit still.

Translation: she's SQUIRMING! That 100mm IS Macro is all that and a ball of wax, isn't it? I love that lens to death!

Ha! Indeed! I am!

My fave lens was my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro... It definitely was my favorite portrait lens.

But... it went on the fritz. And Hubby took note. :D

As far as I can tell, the new IS version is at least equal to the previous version in every respect, and ther 3rd-generation IS system is just a marvel.

You are keeping yours well exercised Ben! I just checked my Lightroom archives and notes about each time I started a new 10k and apparently I only have 68k on mine which is also 4+ years old. I better get shooting!
