Saw this in a magazine.
Take a picture of a person's defining feature:
E.g.,
feet of a runner
hands of a potter
eyes
etc - find someone, find what defines them, take a picture of it. Could be a portrait challenge but could also be so much more. Title your entry with the feature you are illustrating.
A couple of examples from the magazine were 'breath', where the photograph was taken through glass, with the subject fogging up the glass around their mouth, and spirit, where the shot was really high key and motion blurry, with just enough of the face visible.
I think I'm ashamed enough to point out that this was in 'instyle' magazine, or something roughly equivalent.
obDisclaimer: It wasn't my magazine. Honest. No really. Though I did study all the adverts pretty closely and learned a lot about lighting too...

| It could be a little difficult if you choose a person with a defining feature that is more personal than outward.. might cause some confusion. However, the idea does have merit. |

That sounds like a good one - challenges that are creatively wide open are always great to look at, even if you don't participate. It is very interesting to see the ideas that spring forth.

Then comes the question of whether the challenge would be best as an Open one, or a Member one?
I would say Open, as it would present a better challenge to portray these features with as little editing as possible. |
