I will be ok!

Couple of my friends have shown interest and they would love to join this GTG! They all are in NJ.

I'm down. Just need to figure out exact dates and scheduling

I'm interested as I have family near there I can visit at the same time.

start off in the art museum area, fairmount park and head to longwood gardens could be fun and then hit up a winery to picnic in chadsford to end the day!

while that would be fun, that would be a lot of time in the car, travelling (it's nearly 45 minutes out to longwood gardens)

also, march 24 is a sunday. reading terminal, the italian market, independence mall, and most other places are going to be fairly quiet until after church lets out, and some might not even be open until noon.

i would suggest picking three main areas in relative proximity to each other, say something like

center city - 9 until 11:15
manayunk - 11:30 - 2:30 (including time for lunch)
fairmount park - 2:45 - 4:30

if i was doing this on a saturday, i'd start with the italian market and work my way up to center city, then do the above, looking to be somewhere decent for a skyline dusk shot (sunset is 7:17), some dinner, followed by some vibrant night shooting.

or

manayunk - 9 until 10
fairmount park - 10 until 12
reading terminal - lunch until 1:30
center city - 2 until 4:30

on a sunday, you just can't go as long...

i suggest manayunk because it is compact, picturesque, and has a wide range of architectures, shops, and people (i lived there for a year and couldn't get enough of it then, let alone now).

i would completely avoid the zoo, unless the renovations are complete.

and, as alternative to "center city", maybe jmlelii or banmorn might be willing to lead us through some of their favorite walks ;-)

I really don't want to be driving around the city either. Parking can add up pretty quickly. I was hoping for something I could take the train over to and walk from there. Skips plan would work for me if I can carpool with someone once I take the train in.

I'm probably aiming towards April. March tends to bring snow storms still and is still rather cool in the city. I'll pick a date closer to the end of this month.

but what about the penitentiary??

I was thinking this was a bit to far, but when I saw eastern state on the list, I started recalculating miles. :D

Does it fit in anywhere?

Please consider end of April, because I won't be available beginning of April. But please don't let my schedule hold up the group!

i'll probably have to catch philly another time :( i'm booked solid from mid-april through mid-may.

@ vawendy the pen is not too far off from fairmount park and could be an interesting substitute for some of the center city time.

I would be in. I think April would have the best general weather for photography. And if it's raining we just feed up at the Reading Terminal!

Wendy, anytime you decide you want to go there, I'd be happy to meet up with you. I've only been once, and it pretty much was an all day thing.

It is. I'd love to go back. None of my family want to go, and it's too spooky to do alone. LOL!

I love it, too.....I'll pretty much juggle my schedule if I can in any way to go back. I've been two or three times , and I'm *still* fascinated!
