I'm pretty sure this would have done better than my 5.72 FS entry. But you tell me.

I think this one might have had a slightly better appeal.

Thanks for all the comments.

Think you made a good choice

I was in Cuba for 10 days during November and had quite a few to choose from although probably I entered the right one in terms of score

Not so much as an outtake but a vast improvement over what I had originally submitted and came to regret that I failed to do a better job.

I like both. Both are visually appealing and done very well. But for purposes of giving the audience something different to appreciate I loved the humor picture.

A new PB and and HM I'm pretty happy about that :D

Just goes to show that you need to be really close or have a really big telephoto lens to get top marks for this type of shot. My entry image had the Eagle flying about 50ft out from me with great light and a blue sky.In some of these other shots the Eagles were as far away as 400 yards.

Huge, huge congrats!! Awesome shot and beautifully processed!!

You almost had some more eagle competition: This was my outtake for the freestudy:

(I needed to take down the sharpening on the branch and the pinecones some more)

But I feel in love with my shorebirds, and was disappointed that I couldn't fix the eagle's feet.

I love your eagle capture! What a great head position and marvelous wings!! Congrats again!

This is another shot that was in the running:
