Vacation is when you take time off from work to get things done that you haven't because you've been working too hard...
OK, it would be funny if it weren't true.

Well. . .I have to miss the next couple of challenges because we are going on a vacation to the Rocky Mountains (yoo hoo). That's as close as I get to a fairy tale :) I think my "update" finger needs a little emotional rest anyway :) I'm sure there will be some cool ones tho! |

hehe - good one.
i know what it is was being a bit sarcastic - because as far as i can tell i never seem to get one - unless a vacation can be the day i have to do all the yard work...

Vacations = holidays.... I think in U.S. you use vacations, and in england and europe, we usually use holidays... |

There must be hundreds of fairy tales so no one should have difficulty finding a subject.
The better known authors: Grimm, Andersen, Eosop, and the non-pc 'Uncle Remus', and probably a few dozen others!
How about "Bre'r Rabbit and the Tarbaby" or maybe "Rapunzel". Some of the old children's books had wonderful illustrations that might be a good guide for a photograph.
Should be great fun!! |

I actually went out on my time off today and checked out some childern's fairy tale books from the library. I kept getting these stares from the childern. Meh, who cares.

A few ideas I'm tossing around for fairy tale-type stories/characters:
Where the Wild Things Are
The Princess and the Pea
The Emperor's New Clothes
Thumbellina
Stellaluna
The Frog King
The Secret Garden
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Bridge to Terabithia
The Hobbit (Lord of the Rings trilogy)

I'm not reading this as we have to portray a faerie tale, but instead provide proof that any imaginary creature and/or character that we read about as a kid does exist. Good or bad.
I'm toying with things like Ogres, Giants, Leprechauns, sprites, elves, dwarfs, gnomes, faeries, dragons, wizards and even vampires.
Does Mythology acceptable as there was some pretty decent creatures from those stories?

I dont know anything about any of those things you mentioned. I think I will treat it more like an open challenge and vote for the photos that appeal to me the most. |

I think pretty much anything imaginary goes. We should see some fun and lighthearted entries with LOTS of creativity, and it'll be interesting to vote on. Kudos to the author of this challenge! ;-) |

Exactly. Fairy tales are not just about the big 'Disney' and co. stories... all folklores and strange 'local' stories are as good. |

Fairy tales creatures aren't always good. I'm a childrens/fairy tale/folklore/mythology book collector, so I know tons of stories. My only problem is finding a model. I know exactly what I want to submit, down to the make up and hair. I hope I find a willing subject.
