I was just looking at 'Cycling' my entry in the Sports Without Players Challenge. It won on Steve's Digicams today, BTW. I re-read the post challenge comments and.....OH MY GOODNESS!! I FINALLY WON ON STEVE'S!!!!...sorry... one stated the entry received 6 ones and 2 twos and another said 8 ones and twos. Yet when I looked at the challenge voting results there are still....DUDE YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! STEVE'S! NO WAY!....my apologies again...6 ones but now there are 4 twos? What is up with that? Or is it just me...could be. Does it have to do with any post challenge recalculation for a DQ? Was there one, or more? Just wondering. Thanks! RoB.....AH SCREW IT. I DON'T CARE....I FINALLY WON ON STEVE'S!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Digicams POTD

That's really weird.

If a shot in the challenge gets DQd, and someone only votes on 20% (including the shot that was DQd) then after the DQ they would have voted on under 20% so their votes would be discounted.

If a shot in the challenge gets DQd, and someone only votes on 19% (not including the shot that was DQd) then the total number of shots in the challenge would have gone down, and they then would have voted on 20%, so their votes would be added.

This was a bug and has recently been corrected.

First, congrats on POTD at Steve's!

Actually, I don't think anything was "corrected" -- I believe the behavior you described was considered to be "correct" if I'm remembering the discussion correctly.

I mentioned it to D&L a while back, and how it has in the past changed the ribbon results in old challenges, so I think now they've made it so that places can not be effected by it.

I'm remembering this thread where Langdon stated that he thought re-calculating scores/placement after a DQ was the correct behavior. Therefore somebody who previously had voted on 19.8% of the entries (which means their scores did not count in the inital results calculations), then a photo was DQ'd and results re-calculated, would result in that user's votes counting (because they were now over the 20% mark) -- affecting the scores and rankings.

OK, I just talked to Langdon and apparently the algorithm was changed after all. The "20% calculation" uses 20% of all submissions to the challenge as the criteria, even if some of those entries were DQ'd -- not just the number of "currently valid" submissions as was previously the case.
