So......I wake up this morning, go downstairs to make coffee, turn on the computer to check my score, and....

HOLY SH*T!!! 14 votes & 7.7143!!!!!

So I post that knowing it'll drop, but I'm still at 7.18 as of now. I'm reading through the thread and someone mentions the Minimal Editing, and........

MINIMAL EDITING!!!

Guess I should have looked at the ruleset. I'm an idiot. So I asked SC to pull it and levy whatever penalties are due.

I have the weirdest urge to apologize to the rest of the entrants.......I *am* truly sorry I did that.

Oh well.....

At least I made it six years and 335 entries before I terminally screwed up!

I think it only took me about six weeks ... ;-)

You know, if you always use the Minimal rule set you'll never have to worry about this problem again.

Looking through his portfolio, I don't think minimal is his favorite style of editing.

What?

And rely on my skills purely as a photographer????

Surely you jest!

You might've gotten away with it if it wasn't for those kids and their meddling dog. ;-)

So.....you're saying that my favorite tool looks like a big, heavy, Topaz hammer????

It's definitely not minimal, that's all I was implying.

I tried to hook him on a more suave, sophisticated Nik hammer when he was here, to no avail...

You're not an idiot. Crap happens. I think it's great that you got that far without a DQ!

I can relate because my first DQ happened when I got surprised by Minimal Editing too. It sucks but at least you know you'll get a lot of views after the challenge is over :D

Arg. I'm sorry to hear that, Jeb. Arg.

I love your attitude to this Jeb. You're not an idiot but you are also not a whinger. Good for you. (And long live big heavy Topaz hammers!)

Are you allowed to post it? I'm curious to see which one was yours.

Nope, can't be done during voting. And fwiw, I have about 6 DQs to my name! :-)

ETA: Kudos to Jeb for doing the right thing, imho, and pulling it now.

Well, it's about time!! I can't believe you waited this long to have an idiot DQ. Sheesh!

:)

Acts such as this should be rewarded with a non-DQ. Others have made the same mistake and paid as well, but many would see turning themselves in as pointless if the result is the same as riding it out and maybe being asked for validation.

I don't mean to derail a good-natured thread. Well done, Jeb... well, your attitude and honesty at least... not your attention to detail. ;)

It should automatically be posted at the end of the challenge results when the voting is over, since it is a "self-reported rules violation" rather than a "self-DQ" ...

Thanks, people!

As I am fairly accomplished at "stepping in it" in life, I learned a long time ago to suck it up, admit it, deal with it, and move on.

It's a little amusing to me that my first entry with my new big, bad FX camera should get DQed.

LOL!!!

One of the images I voted on and commented on is now gone, so I have a pretty good idea which one was yours. Sorry for your DQ. You did the right thing by asking for it to be removed. It would have placed well. I don't ever assume anything about sensor proportions, but someone (not me) may have eventually questioned your image for a possible crop because of the non-standard image proportions.

Anyway, looking forward to more great images from your new camera.

Yup. I know which one it was.
A great shot, indeed.
